This thread comes out of a discussion buried deep in the thread on the Leering Corpse spell effect...

User nsoniat pointed out that Allakhazam doesn't list the era a spell effect comes into the game. He cited a source to get this info (more on that in a bit). Here's what I said:

-post under a spell scroll (the actual item you mem) when it is available on progression in a post that says what Progression server you are playing on and what era it is in. This is important as they keep changing things...

-Post under the NPC where you found it. /loc is great, as is "verbal directions". Sometimes an NPC is very close to an NPC you can use find to get to. This can be helpful, especially for a place like the revamped Freeport where NPC have been moved around a bunch and era-locked since it was revamped.

If people tell us the era a spell scroll is locked behind we can flag it that way... doesn't hurt the info in respects to live servers (they all buy it in PoK anyway right?)

For example, Leering Corpse spell scrolls are now both (?) flagged as required Kunark.

Now, the thing is we can flag every spell scroll known to the item database to an era (just like any other item) --we just need people to tell us what era the Dev team has assigned. Spell effects... you don't want era assigned there anyways because there will be contradictions with some spell effects being on items too.

In the meantime, if you are playing on progression you may find Xanadas' site helpful: Everquest Progression Spell Vendors . Xanadas' site is great if you are playing a particular class on progression and just got level 16 (for example) and want to know where to find your spells for the era the server is on.

If users can update the spell scrolls in the item database here at Allakhazam, then it becomes searchable by era here... the advantage to that is you could quickly find out the Luclin only spells for your class without any prior era's mixed in. This would also be a back up should Xanadas site go down or cease to be updated.

One other thing... if the spell is researchable in Classic era but not vendor sold until Kunark, we would want to flag it as classic and put a note on the item page about the vendor status.

This would apply to any other odd situations.

Another example would be spell vendors that appear at a later era that sell a lot of spells (i.e., PoK), if their inventory changes with era locks we should post that info under the merchant and make a note of it in the merchant's wiki description.
