Introduced in 2012, the Heroe's Forge Armor feature is an unlock via the marketplace. At (currently) 1200 Daybreak cash for the unlock for a single character, this is viewed by an expensive feature by many. Official News Page Here

The armor sets themselves exist as world drops, /claims, and in the marketplace. Threads on the official boards about Player Studio people making Heroes Forge sets make it very unclear what the status of that is...

I didn't realize there was an option to turn seeing this armor off, something that may appeal to people (particularly on progression servers).

Digging through posts and doing some google searching, the best info I can find on this is at Fanra's , with the Allakhazam wiki summarizing the following:

Allakhazam wiki wrote:

Hero's Forge is a new armor system that allows you to dramatically change the appearance of your armor. Working similarly to our augment system, which has also received upgrades, Hero's Forge is an add-on system that will be sold per character.

Once you purchase this service for a character, normally priced at 1200 DB per character (not account), you will be given one set of armor, Hero's Forge, that you can use immediately. You will receive a Plate, Chain, Leather, or Cloth Armor Set, depending on your class preferred type. Any character that has the feature will also be able to obtain a selection of armor, including multiple color variations and different styles through all sorts of different activities within EverQuest.

Daybreak Games Company are continually adding new armor and color variations. In addition to the armor found in game, they offer additional sets, colors, and pieces through the Marketplace, though the newest sets will be only available in Norrath through normal game play.

Note: The achievements will only become visible and available after the service has been purchased.

Looking at Old Ebon Hero's Forge Cloth Robe Ornament two pieces of information are worth noting:

Can only be used in armor with a robe, leather, or cloth chest appearance. You can view the appearance of this ornament by ALT+Right Clicking on it. You can convert between the old and new versions by Right Clicking.

Ebon Hero's Forge Armor Ornaments are a global drop off Level 10+ NPCs.

These drops are reported to use the Trivial Loot Code (has no chance to drop from low /con mobs).

Very surprised to hear that Trivial Loot code was used again, is this still true as of 2016?

What experiences and tips do you have with Heroes Forge armor?

My personal questions: my dwarf rogue will show in the appearance window wearing a heroes forge robe if I alt-right click (nuts to make the graphic show there if not going to enable it in game in my opinion). If I buy the unlock can I actually have that look in game? Are their any readily available looks that bend the traditional armor type boundaries (i.e., I love being a non-robed caster, my ranger wants a robe, etc.)?

No. Your dwarf rogue can not use any type of Hero's Forge armor except chain. Classes can only use their respective armor types.

I saved a great image to my file server that SoE had released upon Hero's Forget coming out that shows all the initial sets and how they were achieved. Here is a rundown:

Hero's Forge: Free with the purchase of the Hero's Forge feature
Ebon Hero's Forge: Global drop off level 10+ NPC's
Auburn Hero's Forge: Global drop off level 10+ NPC's
Violet Hero's Forge: Created using tradeskills
Beryl Hero's Forge: Drops off level 10+ NPC's in Hot Zones (has this changed since the 2016 Hot Zone change?)
Viridian Hero's Forge: Global drop off level 10+ NPC's
Noble: Completion of VOA mercenary achievements
Bloodforged: Rare level 80+ NPC's (named mob drop)
Sylvan: Rare level 10+ NPC's (named mob drop)
Valiant: VOA mission chests
Insidious: Raid bosses level 98+ (any expansion that contains raid bosses of this level)
Eternal Grove: Raid bosses level 80+ (any expansion that contains raid bosses of this level)

Those were the initial release Hero Forge sets.

Might be a good idea to make a Wiki page for Hero's Forge? I don't know of one or a similar type page already exists on Allah, but it might be a nice place to put all the general information and then include links to the sets.
