I've never seen any of those items. Reminds me of the time when there was a cloth cap that appeared as a dagger sticking out of your head. Personally I'd keep them. It's the rare stuff that winds up being collectible and you have a bunch.

Velium Fire Wedding Ring

Not rare in its time but removed from the game years ago and very hard to find today. The beauty of this beauty is that it had no level restriction. Equip two of these on a new level 1 alt, add a couple of 45 hp earrings and a 65 hp neck, all made by master jewelers and you had your practically invulnerable twink to go maraud through noobie zones. Of course, a good weapon that procs at level 1 and a damage shield would actually be helpful in order to actually be able to kill anything!

HeHe, I still have a dozen or so Palladium Fire Opal Ring spread over a few servers. They certainly make the first levels much easier!

Pretty sure I have a ton of those old jewelry stuff stuffed away in a bank or house somewhere. Tons of other semi-useless stuff. But yeah, some of it is pretty nice twink gear. Though, to be honest, with mercs, the gear of the character doesn't really matter that much anymore. Now, you'll outlevel that stuff so fast, I'm not sure it's worth the effort to put it on the twink.

Um...., it most assuredly IS. I have done this multiple times in recent years and it makes a significant difference. Certainly it justifies "the effort to put it on the twink" (I assume you're being hyperbolic with this comment. Smiley: smile Especially in a world without mercs. And, in any case, if you fight yellows and reds, which is what twinking permits, even a merc may not keep your toon alive if he pulls aggro unintentionally.

It's also just plain FUN! Soloing your way through zones packed with nasty mobs is a blast! Some of my favorite times came from bringing a twinked level 3 toon to Crushbone or a twinked level 6 to Unrest and seeing the XP fly. It's not just the jewelry either. Most gear from the first four xpacs had no level requirements so you can find 100-300 HEM gear for every slot. Of course, this works best on FV where "everything" is tradeable. I have a set of all/all gear which instantly brings a level 1 toon up to over 2500 HP/mana, and I bet it could be over 3000 if I really wanted to pursue the rarest and most valuable twink gear. A 3000HP low level toon is a god in just about every zone in which he could actually do any damage to a mob.

Fun fun fun! Smiley: yippee

I was mainly just speaking in terms of time. There's a narrow range of levels in which those rarish non-level restricted items are going to be super powerful for a character versus the normal stuff you can buy in the bazaar now for a new character. Obviously, in the absence of mercs, it's a whole different story, but with them, the level range in question flies by so fast anyway, that it's not clear how much faster you could go with those extra bits versus without. I absolutely used such stuff on new characters back in the day, but the level rate was like 1/10th as fast back then and there were no mercs. Now? It might take longer for me to log onto my other characters and find the stuff wherever I've packed it and transfer it to a new character then it would just take to grab a merc and level that character directly.

But yeah... Fun is a thing too! I distinctly remember just loving running a twink around with a set of Rygorr armor and jewelry stuff and beating the stuffing out of crocks in Ro, at a level way way way lower that when I'd run through it years earlier. Almost seemed like cheating. But honestly, mercs and current exp rates blow even that out of the water. Don't think the fun is reduced, but it does make you have to change hunting locations more often.

This is exactly what I found when I started up again Smiley: smile

I sorted out all sorts of goodies, Lodi boots, rings etc etc. And they made absolutely no difference to low levels thrashing through the content.

Weapons did make more of a difference to low level melee as a 10/22 does a lot more than a 4/25. Neither does as much damage as Skinspike potions. I'm still slightly boggled that the potion at level 20 does more than a 55 druid damage shield.

And the rings were all useless. Somewhere while I was gone they stripped the stats off all the old jewelry. There were some nice focus items that never had a level limit but again the difference they made was minimal.

A personal favorite of mine is the Sword of Truth, an un-equippable masterpiece, godly* stats (*AT THE TIME!) and amazing looking weapon.
