You can always try "System Restore" to the day before you cleared the map(s) that you want back.

Yeah. I'm surprised that there isn't something in the map editor itself. I'd also go poke around in the maps directory and see if there's a backup file.

I'm a bit old school with stuff like this, but I actually make a full backup of the maps directory every time I install or change any maps (and I have separate directories for each downloadable set of maps as well). For just this reason. That way I can always find the original version of each map, and each modified version along the way.
