Greetings everyone!

Darkfires is always recruiting new members of all classes and levels.

Darkfires isn't your average guild. We are not elitists, we do not tolerate drama, we do not use mischief, deceit, or any other malicious methods of recruiting, we do not operate on greed, we do not promote or condone hate, and we are not a place where folks can join and immediately start demanding free stuff or power levels.

What is Darkfires?
1. Darkfires is a casual progression guild that also has weekly events ranging from the occasional raids and roleplaying to PvP tournaments and more. We all have lives, therefore our events are not promised. We are casual above all. Our primary focus is gaining cheese (achievements) in all content both old and new without skipping over things just because the reward isn't beneficial.

2. Darkfires is a guild that welcomes players from all walks of life and never discriminates. Those that do are removed. Are you black, asian, gay, lesbian, transgender, or anything else and have trouble finding a home in EQ that welcomes you for who you are rather than what you are? Darkfires is a home for you! Racism, bigotry, bullying, and the like are not and never will be welcome here.

3. Darkfires is a small guild that prefers skill and loyalty over numbers. We'd rather have folks that take the time to get to know their class and play it like a pro and be loyal to us. We're not just guild members, we're friends who would never desert each other just because some other guild is "better" or offers more. That is what being loyal is all about! Not a pro? No worries! We'll turn you into one if you're loyal.

4. Darkfires is a patient guild. We are not about getting to the end of the game as fast as possible. We are not about getting all of the best stuff and having that mindset that anything below the best is worthless. We are not about gaining the fastest experience possible by frequently visiting the same places all the time. We enjoy mixing it up! This is Everquest, this isn't a race to see who gets to the end first. If you're all about raiding, getting the best stuff, fast exp all the time everytime, then we're not the guild for you.

5. Darkfires is a guild that operates solely through its website. Want to know our schedule? It's on our website... Want to know how much raid currency you've earned? It's on our website... Want to know anything about us at all? It's on our website... Members who join and use the website regularly are the ones who don't have to ask questions that are already answered on our site. A lil bit of reading goes a long way. We're not here to spoon feed folks who don't feed themselves.

Come join me and take a ride through my world! If you're not an elitist, in a rush, or someone who grades every aspect of a guild expecting perfection that you'll never find, you will not be disappointed. We do have a target type of player, our rules weed out the rest. :D

Llux aka Cloeyy aka Chanelle aka Angelyz

Impressive list of goals. I wish you good luck and hope you have great success. But if you want frank feedback, it looks to me like you're trying too hard to be everything to all players. Some of these goals are going to be quite incompatible. Ironically, I address this somewhat in my recent other thread about how NOT to start a new guild. This other posting was entirely coincidental btw, I had no idea you'd be posting a guild recruitment thread in this forum. For example, it's not realistic to claim that "no group or raid content will be skipped" in a game that's 16 years old with 23 expansions' worth of content. You go further and promise "back raiding" to bring latecomers up to date. That's really hard to do. Raiders just aren't going to want to redo old raids which have nothing to offer them in terms of content, loot or advancement and some of them are going to get annoyed enough to leave the guild. I know this from personal experience as a raid leader. It's a lot like herding cats and it's hard enough to keep all the cats heading forward in an organized manner. God Help You if you need to get them working together in reverse too! Smiley: oyvey

Also, you might want to fix the word "acheesements" in your post. I think you mean "achievements."

Above comments all made in the interests of helping.

BTW, I admire your warrior guide website, very useful info and clearly shows you have considerable knowledge of the class and the game.

Reminded me of this video we saw on AFV last year: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XBPWE5AagtA

I like Cheez-Its. Especially the extra large ones. Why a chip tastes better/different just because it's in a larger form beats me but it's true.

Nah, it's the TASTE that's different. I suspect to make the bigger cracker they have to change the recipe a tad. It's probably got more of those yummy partially hydrogenated palm oils. MMMMMMMMMMmmmmmmmmmmgoooooood!

I'd like to take this time to invite you to join us in the building of a new guild on FV that has a vision unlike no other guild in existence on our server.

Since we're nitpicking I believe you mean "any" not "no".. unless you are meaning every guild on FV has the same vision as yours.

Also, "acheesements" is actually really funny if you meant it (and equally funny if you did not).

Good luck, I hope you enjoy your time herding cats!

Thank you for the feedback. I've taken the time to completely revamp my entire OP to make things more clear, being sure to address what Sippin said in his reply. As you know, people abbreviate things a lot in EQ, and the word "achievements" has been shortened to "cheese" thanks to an old friend of mine, and it stuck. I totally stole it from him lol...

My guild is built based on what I have personally seen that other guilds do not do on my server. Things that I see people asking for a lot, such as wanting help with gaining cheese, wanting to raid content that other guilds do not, and wanting a home where they don't have to worry about being kicked out or left behind just because life happens and they have to be away for a while, or just want to do their own thing during raid time on some days. I see this a lot, among other things...

I'm disabled, I do not work, and I've been playing since 1999 and have grown into a powerful and well experienced player. Why not cater to people and show the server something it hasn't seen in a long time? Did I mention we also have roleplayers and our own neighborhood that I personally built to cater to roleplayers?

FV is full of elitists... People and guilds who only care about doing the best stuff, gaining the best stuff or the best exp, and view everything else as a waste of time when in fact it is not. There are just as many people who still share my vision. To be a true EQ player is to experience the game as it was intended to be played. This is a game where grouping and working as a team is intended, not a game where your only hope is to box multiple accounts and get in the elite raiding guilds as your only means of progressing... Come on people, wake up and live a little... This is Everquest, this isn't "level and gear up so fast that you miss everything and get bored and quit"...

Darkfires is here to bring back those things that a lot of people still want. We're here to bring back grouping as a team without relying on boxes. We're here to bring back those low level raids and things, so that low level players can raid too, not just high level players. We're here to bring back the fun that was intended in EQ and make some of them older zones be more populated rather than remain barren wastelands like they are. I never said it'd be easy, but with devoted players who agree with my vision, it can be done, and Darkfires is off to a very good start in doing so.

Nice post. A few questions interested players might ask...

How many members?

How many active members?

How many online on an average evening?

What's the typical level range?

The DBG forum thread about FV guilds list Darkfires as roleplay. Is that right? If so, I assume "roleplay tolerated" rather than "roleplay required?"

What's your favorite cheese? I like Roquefort and provolone myself. Smiley: cheese Jarlsberg, too!

I'm very happy to answer those questions! :D

We currently have close to 150 members (this includes alts, and some have multiple alts). There are those that only log on once in a while just as you find in any other guild, and there are those that are active on a daily basis. I'm happy to say that we have more active than not, our roster dates speak for themselves. We have anywhere from 10 to 20 active every day ranging from levels 75 to 105 on average. Our primary core of active people are in their 80's and 100's, though our guild does have lower level people as well. We have more high level folks than low ones and growing. So for being a new guild still, we're doing very well. We're well enough that we are raiding twice a week and currently have a record of 14 raid target wins and only 2 losses so far (3-24-16).

We have ceased recruiting in the shout and general channels for the time being in order to focus on helping the members we currently have, so that our raid force becomes stronger and more skilled than it already is. We do not turn down those who approach us to join, however... I am not sure how we were marked as roleplaying but we do have those who roleplay, some who stay in character at all times, and this is NOT required. We are a very organized guild that relies more on skill than numbers. We do not use voice chat servers because (a) I do not own a mic, and (b) I prefer to teach our raiders to raid the old school way that requires paying attention to chat and setting up your own audio triggers when necessary. We do not use 3rd party programs such as GINA or any other illegal programs. As outlined in the EULA, all 3rd party programs are prohibited.

Edit: By the way, I am a colby, sharp cheddar, romano, and pepperjack cheese lover :P

Update:

Member count is over 300 now, official website is up and running and populated, and our current raiding record is at 28 wins and 6 losses since our creation. These wins include raids such as Plane of Time and Anguish in our early days, Dragons of Norrath, Relic, Queen Malarian, Korascian Warrens, Steam Factory, Steel Behemoth Anniversary, and Fippy Darkpaw. We have been farming them to get our raiders their achievements for SoD raids as well as T2 flags for UF and the anni raid augs.

We now have a point system in place for raiding as well, and we raid twice a week always at the same day and time. Unfortunately, 2 of our raid losses were due to bugs that haven't been fixed yet in the Kaesora Library raid. We had the correct 4 mobs, balanced them all 4 down and killed all 4 within seconds of each other as the raid calls for, but still no win. So we've moved up to UF and have been farming Fippy every Tuesday for T2 flags until every raider has them. But we will not discontinue SoD.

Join us! We group and we have fun together!

It's been a lil while since I updated the guild info. I've revamped the OP here to bring it up to date.

Darkfires recently became the target of a poaching incident from another guild that I will "hesitantly" not mention here. As a result, lots of changes have been made to how we recruit members, how our guild bank works, and more.

I felt it was time to revamp every post about my guild that I've got floating around cyberspace and make our intentions very clear as you can see from my updated OP. While we do raid, we are not a raid guild... We are a casual guild focused on progression in the form of achievements.

Let it be known, if you join us expecting us to change our methods of operation to cater to your needs, you're going to be disappointed. Wanting to do end game content all the time, get the best gear, and skip stuff to get farther faster isn't a bad thing. And there are guilds out there that cater to just that. Darkfires is not one of them as our recent poachers found out. We enjoy all content.

That said, it pays to read about a guild before joining it so that you know if the guild is right for you. Our methods are our own and will not change. Tweaks can be voted on and made, but the original vision for Darkfires will not change, ever.

I invite folks to visit our website and check us out. Join us! Follow a leader who cares about your enjoyment in EQ and works to make everyone's experience better!
