Phinigel server got my nostalgia craving going, so I got project 1999 up and running. The naked corpse runs really add some danger to the game, I am hooked. Got a rogue up to 8, but will end up making a necro to level up for plat farming.

Also took my 5 and 4 year old kids to see Star Wars. That was a blast, they really get into it during the action scenes. I was surprised to see a lot of people in the theater for a movie that old, i try not to take little kids to busy movies, but it worked out great.

Took advantage of the double XP weekend by making sure to play each day, and get some Teeks done under Lesson. Also did an HA last night under Lesson. Racked up about 270 AA/char in my box crew for the weekend.

I had earlier tried a different HA yesterday, because it was one of the daily bonus missions (The Hills are Alive - Madaxe). It was my first try, and didn't go very well. Had a couple partial wipes, and I gotta say, the 5 minute timer to revive a merc is a real pain in the butt, especially when the tank merc is the only death you had in a fight. Basically you just sit there doing nothing for 5 minutes, twiddling your thumbs. Not sure what potential issue they're trying to address with that timer. Finally got to the first named, and wiped at 11%. Close enough that I probably could have gone back for another try and maybe won, but at that point I was just mad about wasting over an hour at that point and basically getting no XP... on a double XP weekend. Went back last night and did a Into the Hills under Lesson. Quick and easy, and ~75 AA/char on a double XP weekend :)

Note to self: Don't try new (and difficult) content on double XP weekends!

Tat

PS - to "Aades"... that was my favorite decade ;)

Hah. Yeah. Some of the HA's are ridiculously difficult. There's one DE one in particular that we finished and the total consensus was "Never freaking again... Ever. Seriously". Can't remember the name of the HA, and I'm trying hard to erase the memory of the named we were fighting, but I recall being drunk, stunned, and silenced, all at the same time. That... sucks.

Others are super easy kill count type things (Into the Hills is a great example). So I stick to those as much as possible.

I'm hoping to get to the point that I don't mind doing more of the "hard" stuff, where XP flows slowly. I've been so far from max level/AA for so long, and finally starting to catch up, that right now I want to stick to stuff that makes me some measurable progress, without just doing the same mindless stuff over and over.

The one exception to the "mindless" stuff is the two top Teeks quests. I can run through both in about 7 minutes, so with Lesson running, it's hard to argue against ~15 AA in 7 minutes :)

I logged on for less than 30 minutes in the last almost-week. Did manage to finish off a level on my Vulak necromancer. Not sure how the autogrant is supposed to work, but not getting any at 71 or 72 which seems odd as I would of thought TSS AA were far enough from SoD to be autogranted?

Real life I am nearly as busy as work and other factors can be. This likely doesn't lessen much (at least on the work front) until after next weekend.

Grats to Aades for dinging "sage" here on the forums.

Necro should have gotten AAs. A quick search of http://www.eqaasearch.org/ shows 19 AAs at 71, and 13 more at 72.

Just a quick thought, did you zone at all? Auto-granted AA's only show up once you've zoned or logged out. The other possible explanation is, if you're F2P, you'd be past the 1000 AA limit, so wouldn't get the free AA. I happen to have a level 70 necro, and he has 1487 AAs.

Also, the auto-granted AAs now go all the way through VoA, so much further than SoD :)

Thanks for answers (not played a 70+ character in autogrant territory before).

All access, have zoned multiple times as a level 71. Will login sometime and see if that grants me the 72 update.

I feel like there are some disrcrepancies with Vulak... no loyalty vendor (which I thought was before SoD) and certainly a lot of /claim not available well after the era they came around. Could just be wonkiness of that progression ruleset?

Oh, missed that you are on a TLP server, hence the reference to SoD. That may also affect how auto-granting works. A query on the DGB forums may answer that.

Earliest posts on ZAM for the Loyalty vendor in PoK are from Sept. of 2010, a couple months before HoT was released. And looking at the earring stats on the vendor (~800-ish HP/MANA), they are just under the stats on HoT T1, so that makes sense.

Couldn't easily find info on the rules for Vulak. However, if they apply the rules the same way as they do for "Live", then:

They don't auto-grant for the four most-recent releases. For Live, that's TBM, TDS, CotF, and RoF. So VoA would be the most recent for auto-grant (and this agrees with observations).

So for Vulak, if they apply the rule the same way, then no auto-grant for SoD, SoF, TBS, and TSS. And that would agree with your observation.

I thought it was the previous three expansions?

Definitely 4.

My mains are 100 (dinged Jan 4th). I was 96 when TBM dropped. As soon as it did, I was granted AAs from VoA (91-95), but none from 96. The previous year, I was granted AAs from HoT (86-90) as soon as TDS dropped (I was 90 at the time).

Definitely 4.

Tat

PS - we may be saying the same thing. 4 = the current expansion, plus the "previous 3".

I spent the weekend leveling many chars on several accounts. It was a fun weekend with one exception. That exception was leveling my 23 SK on Lockjaw to 24. To put is simply, it sucked. I didn't have fun, it was tedious (kill, sit for 3-5 min and on and on.) I came away with the impression that the only challenge on the TLP servers was how to deal with the endless boredom. In original EQ there was the newness. Exploring just to explore etc. There is nothing new for me to see on the TLP servers. Same ole same ole at a snails pace.....

On the live servers I had a blast. Buzzing through the levels, getting new armor, actually seeing progression! Doing the older quests on live servers was fun. There was the frustration of much different spawn situations. The spawns were even different from just a few months ago. At two of my favourite places for low level chars, SoNH and Skyfire, one (SoNH) has way fewer spawns and spawn points. Skyfire had no, zero spawns where I used to sit. This has all happened in the last few months as I had recently leveled chars in both locations. I wonder if the TLP servers are responsible system-wide for this? This severely impacts some of the Iksar quests. Still, I advanced many chars 10 or more levels. All in all a super weekend even though I somewhat burned myself outSmiley: lol.

This will be a "lay back" week, perusing the bazaar for deals. With so many chars, on so many servers, platinum is scarce. I need bazaar "steals" at the moment. Smiley: wink

Another thing I've encountered as of yesterday is that all the old game cards at EB Games can not be purchased anymore here in Canada. They come up as expired. If I put my credit card on file, then with our wonderful banks up here applying their own exorbitant exchange rate, I am looking at a 35-40% subscription increase. On a very limited pension, it is substantial for me. Every penny counts these days. Eating is not an every day experience any more.... Smiley: cry

Ah, well, like the man said: What doesn't kill you makes you stronger. Tomorrow is another day survived!!

That may be where I got the number three from. Makes sense. Didn't actually sit down and pay attention to it. Just noticed that with my Wiz, he's still getting autogrants at a level that my paladin did not (I'm slow to level alts). Wasn't really paying attention to exactly which level range associated with which expansion releases. I'd just heard three expansions, so that's what I assumed was the case.

It's actually even more confusing since TBM includes a lot of upgrades to "old" AA lines. So it's not so easy as just looking at the level range in some cases.

Ouch that hurts! I didn't realize the Canadian $ had fallen so much. Maybe you need to pharm plat and buy kronos. At least platinum pieces hold their value throughout the world.
