Well, the best laid plans...

I was intending to get 3 new houses last night (running out of room with the other 9!!), but never got around to it.

Did get 2 x Teeks done with the mains, and did 3 more quests in Valley of Lunanyn. Just 3 more left there to complete the Saviour achievement. But it was late, and I was too tired to deal with the other stuff, so hope to get to it tonight.

Being the obsessed EQ'er that I am, I am persevering with my Barbarian Shammy in Cabilis. As per a suggestion on the DBG forums, I managed to locate some Iksar illusion potions in the bazaar. These potions brought it from indifferent to warmly on most factions and to ally with the Shamans. I was able to get the cursed wafer quest and successfully complete the turn in.

I am, however, still "locked" out as although I have completed collecting and successfully combined the bag of bone dust for the penance quest for the newbie weapon, Hierophant Zand will not provide the book I need for the turn in. Next I'm going to try getting the book with another class, turning that in, then load the Shammy to hand in the combined bag. Worst case scenario, I lose bag. No biggie as it only took a few hours to get the items. That can be repeated.

A post from 2003 that I was directed to 2003 post may be the definitive solution, but I have yet to see an Ornate Velium Pendant [Charged] drop for me. My main server has no room for new chars and a free account does not allow creation of a char with a hometown of East Cabilis.

The journey continues... I will prevail! Smiley: lol

OK, here is what I have discovered in my shaman quest in Cabilis. Hierophant Zand was a speed bump until today. After many, many tries to get the Ragged Book to start this quest The Penance for the newbie weapon, I tried just saying No first as in the SK quest, then when that failed, I tried Yes. Success!

[Sun Jan 24 10:51:36 2016] You say, 'Hail, Hierophant Zand'
[Sun Jan 24 10:51:36 2016] Hierophant Zand raises his hand and looks up. 'May the wisdom of the ancients lead your soul to suffering and everlasting pain. Such is the will of Cazic-Thule. I see something in your eyes, Grizzer. Have you lost something... your cudgel perhaps?'
[Sun Jan 24 10:51:42 2016] You say, 'yes'
[Sun Jan 24 10:51:43 2016] Hierophant Zand says 'That is most unfortunate for you. Your suffering will be extended on this plane, until you find your way back to us. Take this and read it on your way to speak with the Toilmaster. He will guide you. Yesssss...' You feel as if something is peering at you from behind the speaker's soulless eyes as the last letter he speaks transforms into a sigh.'

Book in hand, I headed to The Toilmaster, handed it to him and received Rites of Exoneration. Back to Zand, handed in Rites of Exoneration and Filled Penance Bag and Eureka Iron Cudgel of the Petitioner. Now to get the other three skulls for the first turn in. I have one from many years ago that I discovered in my Necro's bank. So far though, I haven't seen any Iksar Outcasts either in the Cabilis sewers or in the Swamp of No Hope.

I had to do the Penance quest twice, because in my excitement over getting the Ragged Book, I turned it in with the Filled Penance Bag, and Zand ate the bag. Smiley: lol

A SPECIAL shout out to snailish who tried to help by creating a baby Iksar Shaman! Much appreciated!! As I say above, I now have the cudgel, so you can delete your char. If you decide to play it, let me know and I'll Parcel you some things to get you started!

EDIT: I did the above at indifferent faction even though I had Iksar Illusion potions that would have brought me to Ally status with the Shaman Guildmasters.

I got stuck on step #6 trying to get a chant rock. I recall getting two of them but the third simply never dropped - I was so frustrated i logged my L70 ranger and tracked and dispatched every single mob that supposedly drops the rocks - for hours and hours over a time period of a week or two. KC, grats on your success!

I was able to get and place my three new houses last night. Now I just have re-arranging to do.

Here's a question for you all: In EQ2, inspecting a collectible will note if you've already collected it. I don't see this ability in EQ1. Is there a way that I'm missing? I'd like to run my mains through the Bazaar, buying the ones I need which are cheap. But I don't see a way to know which ones I need, and swapping between 200 "tabs" in the achievement window is not very efficient :(

Ouch. I just checked my inventory, and I have the blue and green Chant Rocks in my Necro's bank. Sure hope the other grey one still drops!

I played a little bit on Phinny, not even enough to make a level (but then XP is slow there). My baby necro is kiting in Gorge of King Xorbb and it is funny having to zone aggro from muddite adds because I don't have the mana pool to snare them. Actually getting hit by their blind spell is a change too. I managed to kill Spinflint (a rare NPC). The big rush was killing my first evil eye, despite it charming my pet, as it was a close match.

The other character I have been dabbling on is my unretired Vulak (the dead server) necro. My gear is a funny mix of low-level original (still wearing a awesome back item ) and level 48ish defiant, but I am now level 71. I've been clearing the south end of Rotwood Valley in Goru'kar Mesa trying to get Schelet to spawn for a primary weapon upgrade . I have got him once, but of course got his other drop. I've also killed the big named shrubbery, haven't seen the big undead treant yet --it does appear that the named can spawn in various locations in the valley despite only a few locations being reported.

I picked this weapon as I thought it would be a reasonably fast get, I have been wrong as the respawn on the mobs is slow --I have made most of a level killing greens... This kind of works as I just log out but I didn't think I'd be parked there for two weeks. There is no economy on Vulak whatsoever so buying an upgrade is tricky, I had put a bit of time into levelling (hence the era/gear/level discrepancy) and am so cash-poor I can't afford spells. So Rotwood value works out as the vendor trash piles up in value pretty quick. I was also planning on dropping by Blackfeather to get a secondary upgrade so there was logistics at work.

I will miss wielding Harvester and my sol ro Necro book .

Ragefire Felicite did.. until I got my Drachnid Thyxl a couple of weeks back. I've not played on a server with NODROP items since 2001...

I meant to play this weekend but I ran, watched both NFL games, and worked around the house. Next weekend for sure!

Got 47 on my rogue on Phinny and grabbed some Woven Shadow gear and Shrieking Ahlspiess out of hate over the weekend. Thinking of starting a necro alt for when I'm not raiding or can't find a group.
