Anyone Playing the New (ragefire/lockjaw) Progression?Follow

background: I'm currently away from game due to moving and not having internet access (barely able to get online to do Zam) and am not expecting to return until September when we get into our new house. All of this while they (finally) launch new progression servers... with longer timeframes (something I've posted about since the previous round of servers). Now I hear they are speeding up Ragefire a wee bit but are going to allow transfers... making Lockjaw the slowplay casual server? [I've been a proponent of two rulesets to divide the population for ages as well... so this is a good move in my view]

My questions: So is anyone that posts/lurks on Zam playing on either of these servers? What class are you? What trends are you seeing (class mix, casual to raid guild demographics, etc.)?

I'm going to give Lockjaw a whirl when I come back. I usually play casters... and was thinking of going cleric (my original main back in the day that I got to high 40s before moving on) though part of me has always wanted to do a greenmist SK in a meanful context. Necro is my easymode to play but not so group useful in the last TLP round so I doubt I do that again... but I love feign death. Monks I always quit after level 65 (which is a long ways off for Lockjaw)... and the sadistic part of me thinks I should play an enchanter again.

Well,
The only thing that could make me step foot on either of those two progression cess-pools is to have old friends from alla to play with...

My LGBT guild has a few players that started on Ragefire, so I am there myself. Anyone is more than welcome to join (no need to be LGBT, but expect ***** talk). Anyway I'm Necropimp (which was my mains name long ago as well), and we are in <Raw Silk>

I have been playing on Ragefire. All in all its fun but there are alot of really rude people on there. Nobody respects your camp and don't think for a second a higher lvl person won't come up and kill steal a mob from you.

Hard to get anything nice on there because of botters/boxers/farmers keeping any camp of value locked down. Krono kills the classic feel and really screwed the economy up on there.

Llaianearr Druid 4 half-elf. Still stuck in newbie yard outside Kelethin. Not much of anything for armor and weapons.

Made a druid on Lockjaw (named Sippin, of course) just to check out the server. No lag, pop was actually not that big, considering a Saturday morning. Only 3 people in Rivervale and all of them much higher level (30-50). Misty Thicket had a half-dozen, a mix of levels, maybe 3 apparently XPing the zone. My "formula" I've followed for a new Halfling druid is to run them to Butcherblock, bind in Kaladim, then run to GFay, re-bind in Kellethin, and then spend time leveling in GFay and Crushbone. (After that, Unrest.) Yeah, I'm a creature of habit.

I remember vividly doing this approach on P99 and even the run to Kaladim was intense and fraught with perils. I died at least 5x, forcing me to level up to about 7 in Misty before attempting it again. And I still died! I remember to this day boldly disembarking at the BB docks, after a very long and dangerous run thru Kith, West Commons, East Commons and Freeport (then taking the boat, which had potential danger of its own) and being slaughtered right in the port by an aqua goblin. Had to run the whole route again, at least 40 nerve-wracking minutes trying to avoid all kinds of aggressive monsters. P99 mobs are much more aggressive with low levels, btw. Even in Butcher I was getting swarmed by skells, skunks, goblin whelps and other zone trash, making the run to Kaladim a dicey affair.

This time.... meh. While I was told in general chat "the boats are sailing" I found translocator gnomes at the docks and had to use them instead. (If there were boats I couldn't find them.) Which means took me about 5 minutes. I detest the "new" Freeport, partially because it's so hard to navigate but <lo and behold> the FIND command works and even if "mysterious forces" deny a mystical trail, you still get the Red-X on your in-game map to make it easy to find your way.

I know, I know, I KNOW Ragefire and Lockjaw are PROGRESSION servers---NOT intended to be CLASSIC servers. And they sure are NOT. I may log in again and play around a little just for ole time's sake, but the nostalgia "force" is weak in this one...

Misty Thicket gets a lot of people farming the bixies for honeycombs since enchanters buy those for the stein quest.

Hah. I'd forgotten about that quest! IIRC, I found that I got honeycombs faster hunting in Kith than in MT.
