Mage is level 96 was going to skip it go straight to 100 and then buy level 100 gear.

If your toon manages ok as is, sure good idea. As a rule I always avoid buying "temporary" upgrades unless I need them to level OR I have alts that can use them afterwards. And even the latter only works really on FV where almost everything is tradeable.

Yeah. With my paladin, I pretty much buy whatever upgrade comes along that I can afford. Fear Touched wasn't too bad, except for chest and legs. For those two slots, I actually suffered with my old HoT stuff, then spent some valor marks and bought level 95 gear when I hit that level. Seemed like a decent cost for value at the time. Of course, for a caster, keeping gear up to snuff isn't as big a deal. With my wiz, I'm much more willing to wait and search for a bargain (or just level to the next batch of gear). For a mage? Probably not much of a deal at all.
