Paladin as secondary tank: can heal, rezz, massive undead damage, warrior merc as main tank, cleric merc as healer, second toon either necromancer for dots, snare, rezzeing in a pinch but pet not too great at tanking mobs, mage pet is good at tanking, good nuke capabilities: are feign death drinks and rez items.

At higher levels even a J5 warrior merc doesnt tank very well. The pally is going to be a better tank. I would run a J5 wizzy on balanced. At higher levels they do a lot of dmg.

I would go pally J5 wizzy necro and J5 cleric. You can macro a dot rotation on necro. Snare is golden Smiley: nod

Yeah. It's ironic, but pally/necro is actually a pretty darn good combo (snare is a huge deal here). Depending on what you're fighting, you could even consider dropping the cleric merc and grabbing another caster. With my paladin, I do have a cleric merc that I use when fighting really high damage stuff (and sometimes I'm just lazy and don't want to have to pay attention to tanking *and* my own health). But against most stuff, I'm better off with the caster merc. Obviously, with a box setup like this, you're probably going to be hitting stuff a bit tougher than you'd normally go after solo/molo, so that's totally situational.

Agree completely that a tank merc is unnecessary unless you simply don't have a tank in the group. Paladin alone should handle most stuff just fine. Paladin with a healer merc should be able to handle just about anything remotely level appropriate. Only issue with that combo is time, and that's what the necro and caster merc are for.
