I've been working on my "bucket list"... though Sippin was clearly correct that mobs are going to be tough to find (that are on long spawns). Here's a summary (as requested by Yther on another thread) that covers a few days and the weekend:

I did Sleeper's Tomb. Got a lot of named including the 4 final dragons. Got parts of several quests... a guild would of had to do a lot of raids to finish the quests back in the day, and that's assuming a few people used DKP to own the needed drops 1st time they came up due to the "4 drops from 4 dragons but only 1-2 drop on a cycle" loot table. Very cool zone, compact, scary and an add heaven. Something odd at the end though, you get the "you are not close enough to use that" message in one area of the dome, but can't get near enough to click whatever it is. I've been up on the dome and trapped inside it (have made a few trips in)...

Due to the quest drops (and no recent posts on the quests) I thought... "Maybe I should faction up Claws of Veeshan and try these turn ins". So I hit Kael... hard over the weekend. At kindly faction the Skyshrine quest dragons still basically spit on me. So I did Kael again. I've dropped lots of named (Vindi twice) but not seen Tormax up yet. I have half a bank full of cool tradeable gear that you never see anymore (as it is junk now lol) but would have been decent stuff and solid newb gear when I started playing. Part clear of Kael maxed me with CoV so now the quest dragons like me... I just need at least one piece for every quest still. Faction in Kael varies greatly from named to area. The old advice of killing named in the south holds true. I find it hilarious that I am max KoS and still able to bank here.

I ducked into Velk's (one of my hated zones as I manage to get lost and/or fall 90% of the time I go in) and got into the Kobold area. Got bored, nothing interesting was up and nothing to report on mobs there.

I did a speed run in Old Sebilis. Wiped out the juggernauts, Tolapumj, and Trakanon. Got the shaman clicky breastplate which is fun.

I offed Fippy Darkpaw as I run by him every time I origin. Updated his faction listing.

I peeked in Siren's Grotto (yuck). I never did this zone on any character before... my necro would just levant (succor) across it. What a pain it is when you don't know your way around. I didn't last long in there (bored not dead), but may go back as it's "undiscovered" for me.

Dragon Necropolis I have always kind of liked (it was a fun hotzone a few years back). I went to war with the Chetari. Got some funny drops. Best drop was from the Entropy Serpents . I tried to visit the nice Paebala rats but got tired of the goos that spawn adds on kills. Zlandicar was not up by the way.

Decided that Hadden needed to die. Faction hits really aren't that big. Got a fishing pole. Resisted the urge to destroy Surefall Glade (for now)

Killed The Dwarf King Kazan Stormhammer and one of his pals that looked at me funny. Still allowed to walk around Kaladim, though folks call me dubious now... redeemed myself killing a low level dwarf bandit out in Butcherblock.

Travel was an issue, so I went to complete my adventurer's stone. Appears a big bugged/different for a heroic character. Spoiler: do the home city stuff the normal way. Go to the normal wayfarer camp npc (Vual in BB for example) and say "farstone". He won't reply to the hails, but using farstone gets you a maxed out adventure stone.

Finding myself at magus, and not ready to go kill Kelethin or hang out on Faydwer I went to Natimbi. Cragbeast Queen was up... and I was slowly losing the battle before I bailed. I can tank her with my cleric merc, but can't out dps her regen. I'll admit that my strats and knowledge of the monk class may have prevented me succeeding.

At this point was very tired of origin so I ran to Jaggedpine. Realized not much to do in Jaggedpine... so I went gnoll hunting. Only interesting one was Bardunk Darkpaw. He died.

Skyshrine... I was here 2-3 times over this weekend (and a few days) adventure. I had forgotten how insanely massive the zone is. The maze is also slightly different then it was way back in the day (not reflected on my mapfiend map) but Dukelatan had posted something years ago here on allakhazam and that got me out. Yelniak still doesn't like me but now that I am Max ally with the rest (and I remember how silly big the place is) I am not sure I want to bother killing them all. Then again I may...

I thought only Piercing melee attacks worked on her. Seems it still that way from a Dec. 2013 post by Vinney. I tend to use 2HP on her as well, and Riposte discs if I have them. Think last time was at 80 and way before mercs and got a Pal and Dru to help, so I could focus on DPS to out do the regen.

Anyway, the point being, probably can't do it solo with a Monk.

Sounds like alot of fun though!

Oh, I know this feelingSmiley: grin

This weekend i did'nt felt like grinding exp, so I decided to start 1.5 epic with my pocket mage.
How hard can it be...

Well, actually it is'nt and was'nt till I had to go to Siren's Grotto, to kill Ravaging Tsunami Elemental...

Last time I was in Siren's Grotto in 2004. Our guild raided about every weekend and zones we used to raid pretty often were Temple of Veeshan and Dragon Necropolis, so I had passed SG many times. Despite of this fact I don't know this zone at all - it was long time ago, and back then I was just following higher level toons clearing out the way to the WW zoneline.
Nice. There I was - in that kind of dungeon I don't like at all - with many levels difficult to understand where you are and how to get to the other level.

Yes, I checked on the map where this elemental was, but how to get there... Oh, hell Smiley: banghead
I spend there an hour or so, killed all the mobs I met, because I was frustrated Smiley: deadhorse, finally I logged out and decided not to return before next weekend.
Oh well, I did log back after I had a very nice walk with my dogs (the sun was shining, happy dogs meeting other dogs etc), checked the map again, figured out how to get there, found the way.. just to discover that I have already been there... And I did'nt checked THE Right Place, where this elemental was all the time waiting for me.
I was feeling like Smiley: goat

Note for myself: read all the comments on allakhazam forums, twice if needed (I am from not english speaking country).

I still hate this place Smiley: grin

And THIS is not all :)

I talked with my guildie about trade skills and he told that if I ever wanna complete "Shawl 3.0", I must have 300 in many trade skills.
I did the search and understood, why both my old chars had in inventory lots of toes, beards and other crap - they were in the middle of shawl quests. Oh yes, I recalled it instantly.
Well, I think I don't have to mention, that I destroyed all this "crap"...Smiley: clap

So I had a very nice weekend, thank you very much Smiley: grin

I spent the weekend still working on various epics. I managed to find the Broken Golem up in Fear and finished the Wizard epic. The rest of the weekend I grouped with my Guildie to grind in The Grounds. Put a level and a half on my Paladin and upped quite a few slots to HoT T2 armor.

I'm still trying to get a Ranger BP from Trakanon, but the same person has always been there for 2 weeks straight. He/She is also killing the undead bard thus preventing others from completing their epic. I consider this a zone disruption, but not so the GM's. Petitioned and it seems a single person monopolizing the zone for farming is perfectly OK, even when it's done AFK with a merc. Smiley: motz

Jagged Pine Infidels got what they deserved! (I did say I almost attacked Surefall). Smiley: sly

Undead Bard: he's level 57... do you have a chanter or necro that can try charming him KC13? (before the afker kills him). Even in shroud chanter form... if he is charmable you could move him to do the turn in? He's probably not charmable but it least it is a possible way?

If you are not used to using charm to play with npc... casting invis will break the charm. You'll have aggro so you'll need memblur type of spell/ability. Then /hail will usually stop the npc from wandering back to where you wanted to move them from.

Note that a necro has all the tools to do this to any undead npc.

edit... and of course bards can charm. doh.

Yeah, now that you say it the piercing thing does ring a bell.

Any monk useable piercers I wonder... I know I have no skill in the weapon but there used to be anomalies like this in the game (clerics with swords and so on). Be great if I can kill the Cragbeast Queen with some terrible dagger from Paludal Caverns or something.

Since my main wizard is max level (until the new expansion is released), and is almost max aa'd, I decided to work on my baby mage and shaman. Even though mage pets were "nerfed", I still wanted to try one out and see how they are. So far, I've been having a lot of fun soloing.

Also, since my wizard is 300 in all tradeskills, I'm working on tradeskills on my mage (just for the cultural gear - the wizard is a drakkin, the mage is a dark elf).

Other than that, in between med breaks, I was studying for my behavioral neuroscience test.

Piercing for Monk by Damage (lots of shrouds and pet, but a few player useable): http://eqitems.13th-floor.org/itemsearch.php?searchtype=advanced&field_0=items.damage&compare_0=%3E&text_0=0&next_0=1&field_1=items.classes&compare_1=%26&text_1=64&next_1=1&field_2=items.itemtype&compare_2=%3D&text_2=2&next_2=0&field_3=&compare_3=&text_3=&next_3=0&field_4=&compare_4=&text_4=&next_4=0

There are no 2HP for monks, unless maybe from the two or three newest expansions.

Without the skill, I doubt you'll have enough attack rating to keep the dps up enough. If it works, though, that would be awesome.

Very helpful, thank you.

Sorting through the shroud, no longer drop and ones that probably no longer drop... here's the best options:

TSS era lowbie trash drop

rare dropping Luclin raid drop

Luclin vendor item

Luclin quest reward

TSS quest

Skyshine (Velious era) drop

Velious quest

The Temple of Veeshan quest is the best by far. Assuming I read things correctly and this list is all still in game.

I may try dual-wielding the terrible Mucktail mining picks first though... just to see if that gets me past the 97% regenerating on the Cragbeast Queen as my hp/cleric runs down.

My Bard has already done the turn in and received the epic 1.0. The AFK'er obviously is only after Trakanon, as the undead bard is non-agro, in fact you can sell/buy from it like a merchant. This person simply kills it when it's up. Otherwise he/she leaves the merc to kill anything that agros, mainly Trak as no other mob is within range to where they AFK.

Back when my necro was farming jugs for spells and cash drops I sold to that bard a fair bit (I spent literally a couple of months in Seb doing this and he was up for decent stretches). Note this is when my necro couldn't kill Trakanon, so I was especially glad to see the skelly bard.

TILT
Sure he's killing the Undead Bard? I wanted to farm one of Trak's drops once (don't even remember which any more) and the Mystical Lute body was a pretty easy item for my Shadowknight to quest since you can buy most of the components. Then I just would do the hand-in when I saw the Undead Bard up, popped Trak and got an extra chance for my drop.

I'll admit that I didn't really think of others doing the epic at the time. The primary benefit of the Singing Short Sword was its "acts as all instruments" feature back in the day but modern armor made that obsolete ages ago so people actively questing for it didn't really seem likely to me.
