AA Bonus or SomethingFollow

~
I've seen references that AA are "easier" to get now -- did they increase amount of AA xp per kill or some such? Just curious -- coming up on lvl51 and hoping the grind for those initial AA for RS etc isn't as awful as I recall.

Yes,
There's a bonus to AAXP from kills that is 1000% or ten times normal rates...starting at 0 AA's with a linear decline to naught at 4000 AA.

That's why nowadays we hear or read of what would be (in the old days) unreal numbers of AA's that can be gained from characters with low AA counts in a LOD burn etc.

I think it was a good move by EQ to help returning players quickly get the necessary AA's on their characters to hold their own in content/groups at the higher levels..without having to spend years grinding..

Prior to that change, they changed the entire way AAs are done with TSS release, adjusting for con of mobs. So that everyone gets AAs at the rate they did using the old system at 70 versus cons. So killing whites at 51, now grants the same amount of AA, as the old system did killing whites at 70. A huge boost for lower levels. Then add in the 10x bonus for 0 AA they have now, and it's unbelievably fast.

The caveat on AA xp, with 2x weekend and potions, is even with both, that's only 400% on top of the 1000%, so 1400% (or 14x not 40x). That is it's additive to the current bonus. And quest xp put towards AA, doesn't get the double bonuses either. So if you're grinding quests for XP, it's better to stick with regular XP for the quest reward on bonus weekends / potions / etc.

Also from what i understand from a freind of mine who hasnt really stopped playing EQ. He mentioned you would be better off killing light blues all day long rather than killing level appropriate for AA points. I think maybe thats why The Hole is popular on my server(bertoxx) mostly light blues and you just mow them down like mad. It doesnt bother me any with the combo im using now my 64 monk/ranger im piling up AAs as i go. Hunting the lighter side of WoS has been nice. Then i grab my level 70s for thier dailies in WoS and by completing them that nets them 12 AAs at 100% to AA xp.

Agreed on the double xp weekends. I always switch to full regular exp for those weekends.

Are you sure about exp pots and LoD burns though? I'm 99% positive that I've seen my AA gain rate pretty exactly double when I use LoD versus not. So like I'll kill the same mobs that normally grant me 20% of an AA per kill, and I'll get 40% of an AA per kill with LoD going. I shouldn't be seeing that much of an increase if it was just adding a +100% to the total.

Never parsed it myself to be sure. But alot of people have reported testing it out and say it's that way. That means very little I know, but I thought it was enough people to trust, that there was something to it :P Damn Family Feud mentality, the most popular response is not always the correct one. :(

Have tested out the 2x xp on quest toward AA and it bites. TSS Charm of Lore is a good tester and you can gain levels in the 40s to 50s turning in all the group parts on 2x + LotD run.

Maybe, it 'cause it goes along with how other % buffs stack too, is why I took it as working that way. I should burn up a few LotD or potions or something and check it out.

And if you're on the Firiona Vie server, we have a permanent 50% xp boost. Add an xp potion, plus double xp weekends.. aa's are yummy here. :)
