I'll edit this, really hoping people give some input:

"Lunar Mutant Rights Now" formed out of these boards to tackle Luclin content without wearing defiant or PoK quest/vendor stuff that completely trivializes the content. We did this to make playing silver with others viable.... and it has worked pretty good. Good to the point that the more active members of the guild have hit 60 and are running out of variety or purpose on the moon (we can't do the serious endgame stuff due to it being raid based in our bad gear, you can only level to maybe 65ish on Luclin and that's pushing it considering it was designed for 60). Yet... we have 46 characters in the guild, encompassing 25 different posters here on allakhazam. 12 of those posters have been active in the last 5 days. Only 4 posters have been inactive all of November.

Our next stage seems to be shaping up as follows:

"Lunar Revenge on Odus"... it was those Erudites that caused all the problems for Luclin right? So let's infiltrate their society and steal their resources (huh?). Basically meaning use all Odus based zones. This expands our focus and allows for some variety as follows:

-gain Paineel/Erudin as home cities & newb hubs (since you can faction up in the warrens this is actually doable/useful for any race/class). This makes re-entry or fresh start in our guild more appealling. (For example, I would faction my druid in the Warrens to max ally. If I am doing that anyways... might as well be buffing some lowbies too).
-1-50 stays focused in a few zones, but some classic fun places are now on the list (Warrens, The Hole). Some of which will offer gear upgrades to our Luclin gear. Some of these zones will be more fun/efficient to "catch up in" too.
-Gives us LoY to do... which actually has a few events/quests few have done. All of which are worth considering for Luclin gear equipped characters. Also gives us some content to go to 65 in. Definately improves the lower level (30-50) plat grind. LoY mobs mostly don't have insane HP like Luclin mobs either.
-Gives us The Buried Sea, which many of the current guild members have done very little of. This takes us to 75 if we want. By staying in this pocket as a guild silver membership is still viable.

This thought comes due to thinking that PoP will just bog us down and make it unfun, and that LDoN (while fun with a regular group) is a bit of a boring grind to actually max use of for multiple classes (and doesn't really provide a re-entry point for fresh people).

Thoughts?

Just responding here to make it "official" since I already talked to Denth about doing the Odus thing (I'm in favor). Mainly because Jhenni's mostly run out of single groupable stuff to do on Luclin.

It makes sense, i mean...Luclin came from a part of Odus its like going back to where we came from.
I've never really done The Hole, or much of the Odus side stuff myself, just a bit of the barren coast and some parts of Stonebrunt Mountains.
It would be fun to spend some time in the hole and LoY. I havent really explored much of Nadox, Torigan Mines...

Itemization will really vary... from the laughable (wicker Smiley: jawdrop) to weird stuff on LoY that few have hunted.

There is always the Muglwump with his nice stein and other awesome loots.

Let's talk about some of the zones a little deeper:

Toxxulia Forest is a newbie zone often bypassed by players in the past. Tehutibloodstorm's detailed post from 2001 makes a strong argument for why this shouldn't have been the case (nor should be on a future progression server). The simple fact of it was, if you wanted to group, the masses were elsewhere. Level 1-10 I have done here (on last progression) and it was fine.

There's some odd quest rewards tied to the zone, none of which I have ever done, many of which I wonder if still work/exist:
Kerran Fishing Spear , Kerran Fishingpole (third item ever put into alla btw), and possibly one of the rarest quest items in the game Erudehide Tunic .

They also retrofitted some Legacy of Ykesha questing into the zone with the luggald flesh quests ( evil and good versions).

Toxxulia got revamped for The Buried Sea (?) expac so Kerra Island is now a part of the zone. The ingame default map is colourful, but reasonable. You have PoK access in the north due to Erudin Palace and in the South for the heretics of Paineel. The Luclin Spire for Odus is also in this zone.
_____________

The Warrens is one of the best zones in the game period. I preferred the old Kobold models to really make this place scary, but even in the modern look it is still a great place. Hard to solo at level (in era gear), challenging for groups and xp creeps from 5-22ish (though you'll be gaining it slow in the later teens). Before armor dye and stat-inflation made it all useless, The Warrens had armor looks people wanted. The weapons still look really good but are not "good" by even Luclin standards (keeping in mind that the Warrens was added to the game before Luclin).

Too many cool (well more fun/goofy than cool maybe...) drops to list, but here's a few: Ultimate Hammer of EQ? , dog's sad stick , tasty!

Current map is okay, but not great. There are many named in this zone, most of whom (maybe all) are only found in one location. Some of them might have placeholders, but you generally see a lot of them up if doing a fast run through on a higher level character. Another benefit of the Warrens is that you get faction ups with both good and evil Erudites in here. So more city access, and (more importantly to most) you can get a Paineel key which allows you to buy your key to the Hole.
_________

Stonebrunt Mountains isn't a zone I have done much in... it's actually pretty large. It was the 20-25 hotzone once upon a time, though reportedly the north end of the zone can take you into the 30s. The Kejak village has always intrigued me... and has actual references to the Vah Shir made by NPC. There's a bunch of quests there, I've always thought Wakizashi of the Frozen Skies would be cool to complete.

The map I have for this zone is accurate for the topography, and some labels.. but hard to look at. I ran through here a lot to go to Gunthak (before they put the weird PoK book on a boat in). Running through more of the zone with my Druid's track up yesterday had me thinking I had missed out on an interesting hunting spot.

________

Gulf of Gunthak is the first of the actual Legacy of Ykesha zones. I remember when people would say "don't go there until level 40"... low 20s with a merc is probably fine, mid 20s in modern gear I have done solo (on the right class). There's a lot of camps here, and the vendors in the lighthouse so it is a contained progression if you want it to be.

One side of the beach is undead, the other side (with all the niflicks) is live with the occasional crossover. The tunnels are another spot you can hunt, people training through made this deadly in the past (ask any enchanter that needed to kill the mobs in there for the spell quest). There is odd loots drops off named and the LoY spell quests for most classes happen at least once here. There is a triggered event in the one dead-end cave, and the shanty town before the dulak zone in. I haven't actually been to the zone lately, but have spent a lot of time there in the past (without having done it all). You can also get into Nadox from Gunthak.

______

Dulak's Harbor you have the fun of killing pirates! And bar wenches...?. Solid loot drops (gems, heavy weapons of no use but cool looks). All the LoY zones drop wierd charms (since charm slot was introduced in LoY), one I have done the quest for several times is charm of the brotherhood (if only most of the guild was Dwarves...). The Luggalds in the hidden caves are nasty, especially the boss fellow.

*Most of the LoY zones have at least one triggered/scripted event. Nadox has Inny for example. Loot itemization (especially for caster focus) really catches up in LoY in contrast to Luclin. Much of this stuff wasn't done much at the time because any guild partway into Planar Progression was getting better stuff than the LoY loots. But approaching this content as we are now (smaller groups, casual fun) there are challenges with reward. I'm not sure how high level a group will need to be to handle the Torg mines event for example... as I think it was raid levelish in difficulty.

**The Buried Sea zones I can't really say anything about except that I have kited some crocodiles along some beach and it was killer xp.

***I didn't detail about the Hole , because I have really only used it to complete the enchanter epic and done the occasionally done some dabbling for xp near the entrance or deeper in the one tunnel. There are quests out of the Hole I have always wanted to do Shiny Robe of the Underfoot ... but it's the kind of the thing that would be cooler on a progression server before dye hides the fact you have something extremely rare.

Speaking of weapons that look cool and stats that make you weep, I was running through Ykesha (whatever the actual land mass is called... Broken Skull Rock?) last night and wept at the nifty yet crap harpoons.

Nadox has a scripted event as well with Bloodspear the Wretched and another with the Luggald Broodmother. Broodmother is actually fairly easy to "exploit". Not via any real trickery, just that she runs faster than her priest entourage (who'll also pause to cast spells at you) so she's easy to separate from the healers who are supposed to make the fight difficult.

Hate's Fury is all about the scripted raid; there actually isn't a great selection of named mobs in the zone for group/solo hunting.

There was something a little different about LoY mobs -- maybe higher AC or their max hits. Not saying it's impossible or take away or anything. Just recalling my halcyon days of grinding the beach, Dulak's entrance, the warehouses, and the boats.

My what times.

But as to gear, there's definitely upgrades through there for certain; especially like Hate's Fury and Nadox. Heck, even the named on the ships have some nice drops.

^good points Nekokirei.

Now that we are doing it... it will interesting how it feels to us in our Luclin era gear. My first impression with a merc (so very biased) is that they die faster than same-level Luclin mobs, but I will agree that in Dulak at least, they seem to hit pretty hard. The actual tanks will probably have more insight.

LoY still has lots of droppable loots, so it should work well for our team approach. We've had some Luclin items pass through multiple characters via the guild bank --something the game has really missed since Ldon+ (sharing attunable drops isn't the same as half a guild using the same Blood-something club as they level).

Hello all. I just wanted to say that I like the direction the guild is heading. Also wanted to let everyone know that if you don't see me on much or don't get much response when I am on don't take it personal. I am probably semi-afk. Also I won't be on a lot due to having a ton of projects around the house to get finished before Christmas gatherings. Hopefully I will have more free time after the holidays.

I saw you on today! Trixbro was afk in lobby at the time (was way earlier than my usual playtime and I was on for less than an hour).

I've been on fairly regularly of late... but in short bursts in between everybody else's playtime. Fortunately our guild concept is cool with people being as casual or heavy play as they want.

I'm hoping a few people that have been off for a bit return soon too (Odus is a great spot to level up a languishing Vah Shir alt for example Smiley: nod )

We've also got a couple of people that have posted here about looking for an invite that we haven't managed to tag yet.

Finally, anyone interested in joining up with us --we have room for more! Since we are presently living under level 65 in Luclin/Odus (including LoY) a silver account is totally adequate (no one has hit the AA cap wall yet). Even our looking ahead to The Buried Sea (good for 66-75 when some of us want/need that) isn't really that bad of a pinch point on those that don't want to go Gold membership. Besides, at least half the guild seems to be enjoying the 1-50 ride as their main focus, whether on one character, some boxes, or an alternating army of characters.

My new monk just did 3 casual plays sessions (with a merc and buffs) to get to level 22:

1-2 in the Paineel newbie yard.
3-16 in the Warrens. Was fun... I'm not smart enough at managing the merc to drop the upper-end named.
17-21 in Stonebrunt. New to me, was good 17-19, I had trouble finding good mobs at 21 (found level 30ish mobs in the north, mid 20s seemed really sparse). I am now fully dress in soft wicker! I look like a druid...

Died a bunch in Neth lair (swarmfiend loves me) so I went to Paludal to get 22. My bind point is Gunthak (to be near Stonebrunt) so I tried the undead beach. At 21 the merc can kill them, but it is slooow kills of deep reds.

For speed molo/solo catch-up (to 40s is my goal) I am thinking Marus Seru and DSP might be faster due to hotzone status, but Gunthak should have a sweet spot too. The undead not running is an advantage I may need to use (having no root/snare/stun).

Hello Trixbro, Snailish, everyone. I recently came back to the world of Norrath, first on Al'Kabor, the Mac server; and now PC-side. Thanks for founding the Lunar Mutants! I'm glad there are people using voluntary restrictions to experience older content in era-appropriate gear. Journeys are just more fun with friends.

I'm looking forward to joining you as my Iksar beastlady, Yatri, currently level 24; and I'd like to try a cleric for the first time, too - an Erudite cleric. I love the Warrens, and the unique drops there become actually valuable given the limitations we are embracing. I'll be able to log on again in about 2 weeks. See you later!

NP Trix.Lost in progression sounds fun.

We might very well be done with the mutants as an active concern, if it's played out I will probably look for something else myself, but I'm still swamped with real-life stuff so not really getting a good sense of what is going on (or not) in game lately.

I think real life has taken us all by storm this time of year...I was on yesterday and it looks like people are kinda doing the check in thing also. Hopefully, people will start playing again, if not, been a cool run...I plan to stay there permanently, so please always feel free to drop by and play a spell...Smiley: grin
