At some point I went from pretty much ignoring this spell line to loving it. Especially since it's affected by extended buffs, I can get an Eye cruising around for the better part of two minutes and there's a lot you can safely check out in that span.

However, I've noticed some places have "dead spots" that kill the eye. Most recently I noticed that when you get close to Tawro or Radir in Umbral Plains your eye will just "drop out" -- the buff will immediately end. If you're near the spot, you can see your eye spin for a few second before it goes away. Does anyone know if these spots are intentional or just glitches in the system? Seems strange that they'd work to "hide" these mobs (who can be tracked anyway) but I can send my eye all over Akheva Ruins and spy on all the real raid mobs.

That IS strange. Can't say I've ever encountered that. Sounds more like a bug than intentional.

I've often thought that some of the mobs can actually see the eye and will kill it.
They hate big giant eyeballs or something, it makes them very angry.

KILL THE UGLY EYEBALL!!!

like that or something...

Nah, they made the Eye(s) non-aggro ages ago. I think the same patch that made pets non-aggro (unless you tell them to attack something).

Way back in the day, the Eye could aggro mobs which made it less than worthless.

Strangely, both Tawro AND Radir have these dead spots which seems very coincidental for a bug (although maybe it's just "tunnels in UP") but, again, there's so many things you can freely spy on that it seems bizarre to single those two guys out.

Be that as it may...a giant floating eye in my front yard or my house would result in...

Pretty sure the eye was lifetappable in the past too.

Granted... maybe it still is, never had the clicky eye item on my necro to test.

Singing Steel helm with OT hammer could be used by a bard to port out of dungeons like Sebilis. Summon eye, swing at it with hammer, wait for proc-gate.

Since I've never really played with Eyes myself, just wondering if anyone has used one around a mob with AE DS, like Ternsmochin to see if the AE DS will kill the eye or not?

And what about traps, like in Ssra Temple?

EDIT: Also wondered if Jophiel's problem was a geometry issue trying to evac the eye, but destroys it instead?

Eyes don't set off the Akheva Ruins traps although I really wish they did Smiley: grin

Be nice to spawn/despawn all those mind worms from the safety of the zone in.

My thoughts exactly for getting 1st levels through Ssra safely to the upper level named. AR would really be awesome. Mindworms are torturous even when the zone is pretty easy otherwise.

Send the eye into the room after dropping Tawro, if the eye spins and despawns, then the room is flagged No-Zomm. If the eye can enter the room without causing problems, then Tawro is triggering the despawn-death animation.

There's no other explanation, both caves cannot be bugged in the same manner, unless the condition is intended to exist in the first place.

Edit> Years ago I was in Befallen skilling lockpick on the third floor door, a mage enters the zone and begins spam-spawning zomm and sending it down the first floor water well causing huge trains to zone-in (unknown to me at the time,) well a bunch of people died and I was enlisted to drag corpses for rezzes, and that's when I saw the eye moving through hallways with loads of mobs in hot pursuit. I immediately /petitioned and a GM responded withing 30 minutes, but by that time everyone in the dungeon was pretty much dead.

Well I do know there is one bixie mission where the named and the ton of adds all see the clicky eye and will attack it and then aggro onto you.

36 adds on the little eye = dead eye pretty fast =)

Haven't seen the specific bug in question, but I've also been playing with this line again. It's one of those I'd given up on ages ago due to short duration and agro issues, but is now pretty darn useful for scouting stuff out. The later ones actually last quite a while and move pretty quick, making them very useful for running around and looking to see if named mobs are up, who's around them, the best way to move through areas which may have see invis mobs, etc.
