It's been a couple of weeks since an update... what are you all up to? So many of you lurk (your names show at the bottom of the general forum)... it would be cool to see 50 posts from 50 posters here (even if you say "haven't played in ages, just reading the boards at work" or whatever... your update doesn't need to be epic in scope).

Made 55 on my druid (mentioned in another thread) and got my first 24ish AA done. Extended buffs line is very nice --especially when you haven't managed to find the extended enhancement focus effect on the moon. Got my elsyian pants (which ironically is the only piece of the whole set that isn't a stat upgrade atm) to go with my bracers and boots earned previously, but have a lot of that to chase down still. Umbral Plains is an odd place. High end Luclin is pretty unforgiving... so the challenge remains (in our bad gear).

Sunday night went deeper into Akheva with Jophiel and Trappin than I have ever been before. Some places you can play in for hours and want to come back. Not sure Akheva is one of those, but I enjoyed the evening.

My bounced around on servers (born on Mayong) but never really played necro landed herself in the guild this weekend. She's mostly naked, and all I really did was skill up alteration enough to set it as her spell spec (worked great on my old necro main and didn't want to accidently set divination). Not sure I will play the character, but wanted it better situated if I do feel the itch. The fact that she is max skilled and spell caught up at 51 is a nice incentive though.

Real life remains busy, but good overall.

I've been really busy with my thesis since its final revision is coming up the next week, so I haven't been able to play much.

I've just been popping in on my main to kill Faydedar because he's a jerk, I got 11 Runed Bolster Belts off him, so I just made a new alt to give them away in the tutorial zone.

Still working on the Vah Shir progression quests. Mystro (Bard) and Uinseann (Warrior) have managed to combine a few parts with their meager trade skills. Klehpto (Rogue) and Bankah (Shaman) have completed the quests up to the "4 combine" stage but are still too low level to go out and get their own drops. Uinseann and Bankah are much easier to play as they are only lurkers in the guild. They take advantage of world drops and have much better armor than Mystro and Klehpto who are following the guild rules. Funny thing though, the lurkers don't have as good weapons as the guild followers. I don't use guild drops for the Warrior and Shaman.

Mystro has, thanks to the largess of guild members, managed to complete many pieces of Twilight Armor. All except the mask were nice upgrades. At 41, though, he's having major problems killing level appropriate mobs. I have become way to accustomed to Defiant drops on my many other servers, lol.

Because I'm trying to complete the progression quests, I have lagged behind most of the guild regulars and end up soloing. My usual session involves working on one particular portion of the quest. I log the Warrior on, kill the quest mobs endlessly until one of the rare drops happen, then log the lower level char to loot. Trade skills on Mystro and Klehpto are very frustrating. Many, many combine failures due to low skill and few skill ups as well. Uinseann and Bankah fare much better as I allowed them to do the Crescent Reach quests to skill up to 54. Skilling up brewing on the Shaman has been very easy and cheap. Payala fruit, a ground spawn in Shadeweavers, will eventually get him close to 200 in exchange for time spent picking up the spawns. Skilling up pottery on the Bard is difficult. Low innate stats and chronic lack of cash don't help. I haven't begun to skill up baking on the Rogue as yet. That will have to wait for some cash. I have 3 Steel Ingots, that recently dropped, sitting in the bank, but buying prices seem to have bottomed out. EQ RULE 12, subsection c: Drops will not occur while buying prices are astronomical. They will become common when buying prices drop to double digits. Smiley: lol Skilling smithing on the Warrior has also been relatively cheap as he is following the Vah Shir smithing quest. time consuming as the drops are not common. I'm also skilling smithing on the Bard as I like my "mains" to be skilled in as many as possible. It is slow, but he has received much guild help in the form of Fulginate Ore drops. THANKS!!!!!! Hopefully I'll complete the progression quests soon and proceed to leveling again.

I have also been leveling a Druid on my main server. I had never managed to play one past 15 before. He's now 27. Playing a Bard for the first time in this guild, and thoroughly enjoying it, inspired me to try the Druid. I guess I'll try a Ranger next. We'll see.

Mystro is level 41 which is within grouping range of the "upper level" folks. Just sayin' Smiley: grin

I don't recall much of what I did over the weekend although, as Snailish said, I did head into Akheva Ruins. I saw a Zam.com entry for a staff I thought looked good as an upgrade and figured I'd try and work my way in. Man, I forgot what a drag that zone can be. Every ten feet it's another bunch of trap mobs or roaming adds or whatever. On the way in though I saw a different mob holding a staff and by then some guildies were coming along so we beat her up and took her staff. Then we proceeded onward.

Ironically, the back 66% of Akheva Ruins is a lot less frustrating than the front 33%. Mobs are spaced more, fewer traps, less blind spots, etc. We eventually back it way into the back but it seems that my mob (Xaui Tatrua) is part of the raid spawn so that part was a bust. But I did get the other staff so overall it was a win on that front and a win for good ole fashioned guild exploration.

Haven't played for a few weeks :( Other than to test something out one day. Worked on the https://everquest.allakhazam.com/wiki/EQ:Item_Mounts page a bit several days. Just went looking for a more updated list of mounts, and ended up at http://legendsofnorrath.com/ site and figured, I'd put it off till later, since it's only ordered by LoN pack, so lots of clicking to find them all.

Since I'm writing about it, should mention, that I need to make some notes about the ones I left off, that aren't known if in game or if available or what not, like the guide bridles, and the Glowing Drums that aren't black, etc.

After reading about the complaints of the Katta map, I went looking for the one I redid several years ago, and apparently lost it. Bums me out, 'cause I had alot of detail that was missing and of course, it looked better. Oh well. Sorry for the divergence, just been meaning to reply to that thread and haven't gotten around to it, so might as well make a 1 sentence post here about it :P

The EQ Mind thread is very cool. If only I could remember the 1000s of times I've misinterpreted something as being part of EQ. Acronyms used to really get me, like expansions and zone names and such. Things like "camp", "aggro", and "faction" have come up in non-gaming conversations too. Right after I first started playing, we took a trip out to the West, and most of the time driving, I was thinking about how the game could be better, with just slightly more involved models and such. The old trees with just 2 planes for the leaves left alot to be desired. Really wanted seasonal changes too.

Just some rambling thoughts!

Yther Ore.
