Hi guys. Can you all help me out with Mage auras? I've gone through the spell database but can't seem to find anything about what aura I should be using on my mage or frankly what it is and where I get it. I'm currently level 84 and have never used one.

Thank you.

The Chalice of Life -quest

mages got

Earthen Strength
https://everquest.allakhazam.com/db/spell.html?spell=8933

Augments your pet with the earthen strength which will increase their melee damage by 5 percent. The effect will also augment all nearby pets by the same amount.^0

All Mage Auras: https://everquest.allakhazam.com/db/spelllist.html?name=persistent+effect&type=mag&level=1&opt=And+Higher&action=search

I don't know on Mage specifically, but in general, I just use the highest level one, as they seem to out do the effects of the lower level ones. Some classes may get a variety of effects though, that would make the choice more situational.

And look up the persistent effects by changing the URL # to whatever is listed. Like Rathe's Strength at https://everquest.allakhazam.com/db/spell.html?spell=8518 change the 8518 to 8519 to get https://everquest.allakhazam.com/db/spell.html?spell=8519 for the persistent effect.

I believe it effects your swarm pets

I also believe it effects other people's pets in range

It also doesn't stack with post 70 Druid and Shaman STR buffs which have the same Slot 7: Increase All Skills Damage Modifier by x% - http://lucy.allakhazam.com/stacking.html?id=8948&source=Live

Hey. At least mages get an aura. Wizards got like totally gypped. Seriously? A trap spell? Which is utterly replaced by a line of AAs?

Would it have taken a rocket scientist to think of say an aura that increased instant effect damage spells within the area? NO! Far too obvious.

Maybe later levels addressed it... but my necro was underwhelmed by her trap as well. Did any class that got a "trap" aura like it?

Just to second the information above, yes the magician aura affects all pets, including swarm pets. It may not sound like much, but the small percentage it adds can really makes a difference in your pet damage output. I know many magicians that do not use it, and I think they should, however that is not really a criticism as I fully support and encourage different playstyles. My only complaint is the range is a little short, and sometimes I have to get a little too close to the action to see it show up on my pet. I suppose this only matters because I usually run in an all caster group without a tank, but still...some mobs have huge hitbox ranges and it has killed or nearly killed me a few times tying to inch up until I see the aura hitting my pet. Getting too close to a heavy hitter wearing silk with nothing but pet tanks can be a dangerous game! Smiley: lol But in a group that usually consists of two magicians, two necros and a bard (who can fire off swarm pets in a burn or whenever he wants I guess) it gives us a pretty sizable increase in our dps. On a side note of happy-dance-inducing glee, just two night ago I finally got the rank II version of it while helping a friend farm in Underfoot zones. I know, I know, old news, but it never dropped for me. Now, I am happy to have it.
