Hey guys and gals, how was your weekend?

Got an email from SOE to come back, so I thought "the heck with it, give it a try..."
Downloading right now, let's have another look (after more than 3 years absence). :-)

Edit: it's great to see that the Weekend Update survived in all those years, and that there are still peeps around that I remember from back in the old days. :-))

Welcome back! I played very little EQ this weekend. I teamed up with snailish's Druid, Denth, for a bit in the Shar Vahl pit, but still didn't get my last Grimmling bone from the skellys for the Bard newbie quest. Got a horn from Aenuuven and pants from Holkyn, THANKS!! Mystro can now walk around without risk of being jailed for indecent exposure.

Not feeling great today, so am staying home and will play for a bit. Smiley: wink

I had a great weekend. I've been grinding in Brell's Temple on my bard/mage box there for a week, got lots of AA on the bard and a level on the mage. But what was most exciting is that I finally got what brought me to the zone to begin with.

Drum roll....

Hung around with the new Luclin gang, grinding out my sweet Berserker armor and some other quest goodies (some ring & an earring). Made some tattered leather armor for the uncovered slots, somehow managed to make some tailored bags despite my crap skill levels and openly wept as I sold a crude combatant's belt.

Got a chance to group last night and ruin some Loda Kai dudes' day. Was fun times and looking forward to hitting up more camps/zones soon.

Had some fun leveling an enchanter on cazic. Squeezed out 15 levels so I'd have some useful spells for the rest of the clan. Grumbled a little at the Kitties and their lack of enchanter love for quest rewards, making due with dingy armor and the silk robe i made to hide that hideous smoking jacket dark elves love for some ungodly reason.

Had to sneak away from the moon to farm the silk needed for my robe, hopefully no one finds out...

I didn't have a lot of time this week so I tied up some old loose ends here and there and then started recon for some new zones to explore (Arcstone looked nice). Used the time to start a ranger pc and got him to level 6 and am now thinking about how to play the pc, where to go, etc.

Played my wizzy mostly this weekend. Some of the mobs in his previous hunting spot just started to green with the last ding, so after securing the level, I decided to go in search of a better hunting spot. Decided to try out the farm area in DSH. Was pretty easy, but needed my tank merc. Mobs are immune to snare/root, and hit hard enough that nuke/tanking doesn't work great if I get an add (which I did pretty quick after trying that little experiment). After doing one round of the "kill X mobs in the farm" quest, I realized that those tasks are immediately repeatable *and* you can do all three at the same time (doh!). So went back for more mob killing.

After a while I realized someone else was hunting there. It was a chanter. She was killing kinda slow (using a healer merc and chanter pet/dots for dps isn't super fast). I realized that with my merc tanking and her merc healing, and my nukes, and her buffs and crowd control, we'd make a great team (insert chocolate and peanut butter reference). Yeah. More or less perfect team. We owned that farm for like an hour or so. Just kinda stood in the middle and pulled everything around us. The pile of bodies got pretty thick. It was fun. :)

Logged on my pally just long enough to do a quick HZ quest and lesson burn in HoS (why the hell do I always get rotcaps? Seriously?). Getting 10% of a level (and whatever AAs a 50/50 split gives me) in 30 minutes is pretty darn good, but I just didn't have the time to grind anymore. Those blackwaters are just so darn tasty!

Oo Broonsbane, i've explored around Arcstone a lot and I now consider myself to be an expert on it now :) the Only thing I have not defeated there is Zomm the Seventh born, but he's too tough for me at the moment. I've killed everything else.

The mini-named are fun, good fights but not too hard. Depends on your level of course. You can do the quests for spirit armor there, but its kinda crappy compared to defiant. Nice thing is, the Gloves have 40% haste for most classes. I can't bring myself to lose the HP and AC enough to equip them for only 5% haste increase but i have them nonetheless.

I did the quest for the evolving item cape, cape of the spirit hunter https://everquest.allakhazam.com/db/item.html?item=47886
It takes forever to evolve tho! I gave up and only my ranger has it, it'll evolve.......eventually....
Do these evolving items always take this long?

Arcstone is Kind of a fun place to boot around. Got lucky killing Manifestation of ravenglass and finally got my Arcblade
If you have a few friends, or high level enough you can fight the Giant terra-cotta warrior The Colossus of Skylance
Was a very fun good fight for my team, but the knockdown is a pain to deal with when boxing. Lots of clicking "sit" to get up >.<. Had to run when it split up into 4 pieces as my cleric mercenaries ran out of mana, and i was getting worried.

Now i've mostly moved on from Arcstone as there is nothing really left for me there. I've moved onto Relic, The artifact city to get a drop or two, mobs are much harder in relic. More Blue cons(Compared to light blue in arcstone(at 73))

For a number of levels, I used to hunt the undead area in Arcstone with my pally. Arcblades also drop off Champion Urawhathisname, who can randomly replace one of the fallen champions. Probably got like 8 or 10 of those things. Sold some. Gave some to guildies. They do sell well btw (can probably get 20-30k depending on server).

Can't really speak to the rest of the zone though, since all I was hunting with that character was the undead (but it was a *great* hunting spot for paladins). I did briefly pop in their with my wizard, but found that for the amount of time/mana it took to kill the mobs there compared to the exp gained, it didn't seem that worth it compared to other locations. But to be fair, I literally just killed a couple of the spirit wolves just to see how things went.

The update goes in fits and spurts, I love it when someone else starts it.

I'm part of the lunar madness on the Luclin server. My druid is now level 10. This content is so hilarious the way we are messing with it. Not easy necessarily, but that is kind of the point.

Expac launch will keep us out of the game a bit here. Hopefully it's a good one and rekindles people's love of the game. I'm presently happy playing content I paid for years ago though. (I am gold though... it's worth my 15 bucks to not be prompted to sub).

I was working most of the weekend so I didnt play, especially since the main game computer is not working. Was going to get it to the shop today but ended up as daddy chauffeur.

Anyone have an idea of why a key board suddenly stops working? Specifically the arrow keys? Its happened twice now in about 10 days.

I killed Faydedar 5 times!... Because he's still a jerk, and that resulted in me getting 100% wr bags for all my characters.

Then I leveled my iksar warrior a bit until EQ crashed and most likely made me fall into the scorpikis pit in OT, I didn't bother logging back in after that.

As noted in other threads, OT is buggy and lock-up/crash prone. Known issue for the devs, no idea on when it'll be fixed.

That's good to know, I was worried it might've been my pc since I was doing some boxing shenanigans. Kind of annoying since I need to get stuff from there for the pike quest.

Banner died a zonecrash death in OT. I was setting up to animal then sarnak kill my way towards 40 and eventually a worker's sledgemallet... needless to say I logged him for the night.

I used return home to get him out of there. OT is probably in my top 10 of travelled and used for xp zones... I realize it's dead to most players, but I really want them to fix it.

I have a pretty nasty head cold going on right now so that meant lots of time to goof off in game this weekend. I was going to do my necro's 1.5 this weekend but that stupid werewolf fight on the pre-quest sucks to do with a warrior, necro and druid combo and I didn't feel like ******** around with it much more so I put it off for now. After that debacle I spent the weekend working on my Mage which I took from mid teens to level 50 this weekend. I intended to do nothing but the hero's journey zones with him but that kind of fell apart by level 30. I really wasn't digging the quests anymore so I went to just grinding out XP and I revisited a lot of old zones I haven't hunted in a long time. I spent at least a little time in Frontier Mountains, Dreadlands, Karnors, Burning Woods, I even did about 5 levels on hill giants in Rathe Mountains which was a nice boost to the lil' guy's plat supply. Next stop is my favorite dungeon ever Sebilis.
