I played a lot of EQ this weekend:

My happily guilded chanter on Povar burned LoTD friday night and partly on Sunday.

Banner, my troll SK, had a rough go of it with the frogloks of Upper Guk... but did make some progress.

My gnome paladin gained a couple of levels in the tutorial... finding myself more bored than interested in her.

Put some time into another alt. I spend too much time on character creation lately trying to find a compelling choice. It's hard for me to logically get there as I have some illogical constraints in my preferences... which change day to day so it is silly of me to list them (which I had done prior to the edit lol).

As a result of my thread Quests for unusual items I took my Dark Elf SK to Warslik's Woods to start his factioning for the Iksar Kukri chain then will do the Greenmist quest. I like to do things a little different, so love these quests on non-Iksar alts. Even these days, I still get "how did you get in here" comments directed towards my DE Necro and Vah Shir Beastlord whenever I run into others in the old world wastelands that are the home cities. Volodar is now looked at threateningly, so progress was made. Things will go super quick once I can turn in bone chips to Mozo. Four stacks of 100 chips makes me cry when I think of my Necro doing it the old way back in the days.

I'm running up against a wall with my Troll start up. I think I made a mistake rolling up a Warrior to solo the old way. Make no mistake however I am having a riot doing it the old way. So many memories getting stirred up.

My other stable of chars are on a bit of a vacation at the moment. Several months of grinding AA's has resulted in a bit of a burn out concerning them. Also AA'ing for my friend's chars has added to that burn out. The new chars have a purpose in life. The journey, the quests, reliving early EQ. Doesn't seem like a grind with them.

Sounds like Barbarian shaman for you. You can play it a little more martially based than cloth casters (and more offensive than clerics), have Gate, play a good race, etc. Obviously some stuff you won't get such as feign death and I wouldn't say that Barb shamans are "unique" by any stretch but it may be unique enough to you to give it some gas.

As for my update, I played Shisu exclusively (my poor mage) and already wrote up what I did during my play time. I'll definately return to the mage but Shisu has been an entertaining experiment: a sort of return to the "old days" if you were going at it alone rather than arguing with newbies over who KS'd your scorpion in Field of Bone.

A froglok shaman would be slightly more rare... especially if I went female. Just not sure I can do frog. maybe I will save the shaman for the next anny... maybe they open it up to a good race then.

Banner has been fun, and would be level 50 at least if I was using any of the modern tools in a direct manner lol. My best bet might be to take him to a logical endpoint for the roleplayish old-style levelling and see if I want to really play him. He's certainly not a "good" alignment character atm though.

Well I leveled my Iksar shaman to 23 using druid ds and pulls. Using daily hot zone tasks and a half hour lesson burn Jonwinnie is now level 89. Jonwin cracked 2500 aa and Primrose is nearing 2100 k. Even played courtin for a bit, taking on soldiers/troopers and farmers in Valley and Wasps in the garden.
Worked on Sat and Sunday, Sunday evening I ushered at CENTER STAGE in Baltimore. It was a very well done production of ANIMAL CRACKERS.

I have used Allakhazam for well over a decade and finally decided to join and post.

Weekend update, and I think it was a pretty productive one, for me

100+ AA's on my warrior
Got my J5 on my warrior(holy crap what a plat hog)
Dinged 86 on the shaman
Dinged 85 on my druid
Did the entire shaman 1.5 in about 9hrs of play time. Camp fires and teleport to bind on my druid really cut down on some of the travel. I managed to do the Vxed portion of my warrior's 1.5 while I was camping the named in Dranik's on the shaman.

Since my shaman is at nearly 800 AA's already and I plan on keeping him silver I didn't stop to AA on him or my druid at 85. I am going to let them roll right on up to the level cap while my warrior gets the next 400-500 AA's before I level him(I'm at 1600 right now).

What a great thread idea these are. Interesting read to see what others are up to.

I spent a good deal of time in FV stripping down golems for platinum. Worked on jewelry-crafting while I rested and read some lore. Ended up making a second PC, an enchanter, to get some enchanted metal to work with. Didn't work as planned because had to be certain level for the spell itself, so got to PoK, learned the bad news, went back to main PC emptyhanded. I did however learn that robes look different depending on the PC wearing them- either race or class being the deciding factor.

Made some tri-rings and some type 10ish augs, and set them, but put the ring on and didn't see any resulting effect on my PC so left off there for now.

Shrouded to pixie prankster for a day, and started the tasks in Kelethin- supposed to start with bandits in a NE area but couldn't find them, and kept getting trounced by Orc Centurions, so got up to 23% fairy wizard and deshrouded.

Took the platinum from FV and bought me an Extraplanar Trade Satchel which is friggin awesome. Bought it in the Bazaar and at first was really bummed out because I thought I'd made a bad deal. Turns out the ES only holds tradeskill items and I expected to hold anything. But then it turns out I can put the ETS in inventory before my Featherwieght Courier Satchle, and so when I loot, it filters everything through, putting the tradeskill in the ETS and the other in the FCS- which is awesome and so I was happy. (also picked up the enchanted metal in the Bazaar)

At this point I was just a little away from 67, so I went to the Bloodfields and looked for lost amulets that this one dude wanted to restore his honor. Hit 67, went and looked at the LAME spells for level 67 and bought none. Went to LF and hunted down Thistleburr Underbrush for some mistletoe powder. Crashed out in the empty hut at the merchants place.

I spent some time getting my boxed group on test up. I've never been this high lvl before(71), so its all new material to me.
I managed to get most of the XP in Wall of Slaughter, ran a nice camp by the zone to MPG and it was good xp there.

Once i got them to 71, it was time to equip athlai/othni set of armor that i had for all 3 of them. just to show the difference, for the paladin who was wearing a mix of elaborate defiant gear to Othni/athlai was a huge increase in power. Went from 12khp to 16khp, 2.5k ac --> 3k ac.
Augs are going to need improvement, there are a bunch of 70 equipable ones i want to get. Also surprised how much tankier my ranger feels with good armor , and got her AA in CS/CA up there. Way more tanky than before which helps with the pulling.

Wanted to get a bunch of AAing done, so my 3 chars went from about 450 aa to about 550 or so atm, most of it hunting around Omens. I fought my way thru Muramite proving grounds to get to Riftseekers sanctum. I'd never seen it before. I had no idea that MPG was basically a maze, kinda big too. Not a lot of bunches of mobs, lots of spacing. I didnt last long in riftseekers, couldnt see any named up on Track. I also have no idea how to go up or down floors so im kinda stuck there. Not sure how to find the named i need that drop the augs.

I wanted to try my upgraded team against a raid mob for fun. Went to Umbral plains and fought Zelnithak, very easy but took forever. that place has tons of adds coming in all the time. NO rumblecrush up to try, *sad*, so i went into Vex Thal (71 Pal/ 71 RNG / 71 MAG and mercs). Vex thal was ok, but really boring. Mobs took forever to kill. Just forever. Ended up fighting that stupid Va Dyn Dar thing. Has tonnes and tonnes of hp! took me about 15 minutes or so to kill it, and i really wanted to leave after that. Going to have to come back at MUCH higher level to get the DPS required to take down the mobs fast enough for fun.
Thinking about doing Derakor the vindicator, and a few others to test my strength. Never did doomshade in Umbral but its an easy spawn i want to try too.

finally went exploring old Prophecy of Ro zones, they're so pretty! lots of cool landscapes and locations, almost never visted places. Going to try some of the old Quest line quests for AA Xp. Eldaar forest has a bunch of quests to try, and its a pretty zone. Not many people ever go there. Bunch of quests to do here just for the lore and some small minor upgrades, so much of it obsolete due to defiant gear.

I've been leveling up blacksmithing and gathering quest items for the Iksar Pike line, now that the geozite tool quest is still broken. It's pretty neat since there's some missing information on the quests, like where certain mobs spawn and such.

Also a lot of the comments on them are rather vague, so I'm just taking notes to post them eventually.

And my thesis's first revision was a success, so yay!

If you thought Zelnithak took forever, you'll go into a coma fighting Rumblecrush or Doomshade.

Va dyn dar was far , far worse than Zelnithak. I had everyone on burn and it was disheartening.

Its because of their large HP's to try to persuade people away from killing them, they just take so long. but its part of the appeal, feels great when it finally dies :)

Didn't get to play all that much.

Did manage a 2 levels on my Shaman box and some more AA's for my SK.

Poked around a bit to learn more of what I've missed out on the last few years. Found the Loyalty vendor and learned I had some points saved up. Picked up a couple bags. Noticed the golden ticket, did a bit of research and learned what it was for (never even poked my head into the casino though I had heard of it. Never had anything remotely close to expendable income back in the day) Was rather excited to see a speedy drum for my old Bard that came to life on the 50/51 server I had ported over to FV a while ago, been planning on using him to explore everything I remember and things I hadn't seen and a drum would make it more interesting. So I used up all the loyalty points I had left on my 2 main accounts, all I got were some Beads to summon the eyeball(fun and interesting) and some Cleric gloves that can change into a hammer and vice versa. Remembering I had another account I fired that one up, no drum but a mask was rewarded to me. Rog/bard mask with illusion Dark elf, now that was well worth the small effort! I've always had a thing for Dark Elves, and a Dark Elf Bard would be right up my alley. Well some goofing around with the mask revealed it was usable by anyone from inventory, so now I've got a Dark Elf Shaman boxing with my Dark Elf Shadowknight.

Pretty sure I just won EQ in my book

Grats!

On FV server this is easiest (tradable stuff that isn't elsewhere)... pretty sure if you have the good awards from the casino in inventory, it will cycle to the next good reward you don't have. You got really lucky by the way... some of the "good rewards" aren't so useful. But if you want the drum, I suggest looking into it a bit deeper... since you already have several of the hardest to get ones (on FV the dark elf mask is pretty pricey usually).
