I've seen all of the Wall of Slaughter and Oceangreen Hills I care to see for the moment (aside from running the dailies). Any suggestions for a good zone for a soloing 73 mage and cleric merc? I've been doing okay against yellow cons in older zones (goblins, snakes and lizards in Buried Sea for example) and am usually GL MGB buffed up along with the pet and merc. Looking to find a new location or better yet a goal (named drop, etc) to keep my interest up. I had fun while it lasted in Infected Paw with my anti-summoned DD's... any zone in my range good Summoned hunting?

Alot of people recommend Katta Castrum, https://everquest.allakhazam.com/db/zones.html?zstrat=470 from TBS expansion for the 70s Mages. I don't know if there's alot of higher (mid-70s) level summoned or not, but it is a typical recommendation spot. See a construct of the drowned and a vortex of the deep.

The farm in Dragonscale Hills (See Sigglik for quests) is my default goto when I'm bored for the upper 60s, low 70s, 'cause it's pretty easy, especially 70+.

Riftseeker's Sancum off of MPG off of WoS, is great exp at that level.

Thanks. I did Katta for an hour or two earlier in the week although most of the mobs are of the "This mob looks like a huge wuss" variety. Does that affect xp? I assumed that it does or else people would be farming Katta elementals and OGH grizzlies 24/7.

Never been to Riftseekers so that'll be top of the list. Always game for some new scenery.

Yea it does a little bit, since Exp is based on HPs, and the weak ones have less HPs, but do less damage too. So it's not bad if they're descent cons (dark blue to barely red, where you get the within 5 level exp bonus). Once light blue, they're very easy, but you can't kill em fast enough to make up for the less exp in general.

RSS is fun, and good exp. You'll probably have to have a moving camp, since by about your level, 1 camp spot is not enough between respawns.

Bloody Kithicor is a good spot to level as a mage. I found this place and got a ton of exp/AA. The army npcs won't bother you so the only npcs that attack are weak con critters. As you earn AA and get higher lvl you can start pulling more and more of these at a time and quickly burning them down.

I was able at level 78 to 80ish pull 4 and 5 critters at a time and burning my veteran EXP ability earn about 20 AA in 30 min solo. The only thing you have to watch for is there are a couple of rare spawns that are not weak con although I only ran into them couple of times.

You're really going to be hard pressed to find a better and more xp/hour location than Splitpaw. It's cake for a mage to solo there (no merc) from 71-76. Even at 76 my mage was getting great xp there. Easy pulls, can use summoned nukes to heal pet & none of the mobs run at low health. Stay in Paw until you puke. Then stay some more.

I think you've covered the summoned mob basics. When I was moving my necro/pally team from 75 to 80 I had grown tired of OGH and RSS and the like, and found Valdeholm to be excellent xp gain for those levels. So you could try there.

Heck, Infected Paw was great xp from 65 to 70. That's how I became sick of it Smiley: laugh

For what it's worth, I'll probably wind up back there for some grinding when I feel up to it but I'm currently looking to (A) See some zones I never visited previously due to breaks from the game & level and (B) make my visit worthwhile by collecting a little xp or even useful drops while I'm there. Paw is a great zone but after killing every mob in there and seeing all the drops, I need a change of pace for a bit. Playing any game until I puke (metaphorically) isn't a great recipe to want to continue playing it.

In a few levels you can start doing the Beza and Zeka instances. They can be requested solo, mercs are allowed and there is no lockout for new instances.

I just kill the mobs outside the tower, drop the instance and get a new one. Beza is a mix of summoned and live mobs, level 78-81. Zeka is all summoned mobs, level 80-83.

Both are requested from the Clockwork Warmarshal. For Beza simply walk up to him and say "first" and for Zeka say "disrupt".

These can be little mind numbing. But on the plus side they're always available, very easy to get to (guild hall portal), they don't respawn (making AFKs easy.. although there are rarely roaming merc spiders, zone in is safe), the vendor loot is good, and there are a couple of good rare drops (augs, a snare clickie, and a root clickie).

Back in Darkhollow I did scores and scores of Lost Notebook missions on my Necromancer. This is the new Mage version, and better in every way.

According to Zam, those are group tasks.

You know, I thought you could request them solo (unlike Lost Notebook which requires I know requires 3 in the group to get the instance).. but I think I ****u*me*d incorrectly. It does seem like you need three minimum (including mercs). Thank you for pointing that out.

Another spot with mid to high 70's summoned mobs is by the spider camp in Icefall. Except you look to pull the summoned "Animated Icepiles" (lvl 76-78 ice golems) from the tunnels to the ledge which is a safespot to fight-may have to clear a few spiders to make more room if you like..

The named could spawn from the Animated Icepiles and is called Glacier. But the loot is a bit old school ..175 hme range item and a ring (or ear) around the same stats. Glacier is also a summoned mob. While the spiders on the ledge are all lvl 76-78 and are slow, hit softer and have less hp's than the Animated Icepiles. The spiders also have Mage 71-73 rk2 spells amongst many other classes 71-73 rk2's on their loot table.

Good luck.

Crypt of Decay was a great place for me to AA as a paladin, especially at your level, perhaps check that zone out of if ya want.
