Unsolved Quests in EQ... Let's Give Broonsbane a goal!Follow

Broonsbane has spent what most players would view as enough time trying to solve the mysteries of the good NPCs left behind in revamped Firiona Vie

How about us Alla users give him a list of things to approach with the same enthusiasm?

Here's a couple from me:

1. What is Old King Xorbb's actual spawn cycle and placeholder?

2. What is the deal with all the npc in the upper parts of Highpass ? There several that seem like there should be a quest, but last time I tried looking stuff up (admittedly a long time ago) it was vague.

Well I've been trying to solve this gravedigging quest I found for a few weeks ago and I'm still stumped, so some help would be nice if it's not too troublesome.

Ah yours is a "real" unsolved quest. Very cool. Also one of the best cities in the game.

Awesome thread. Personally I'd like to see a list of "unknowns" related to EQ. Aside from the Firiona Four, I'll also add that I've picked up a tome called The Bixie Evolution which no one knows what it's for. The thing about the FV mobs is that they're following an express pattern which leads to a possible goal. So there was some goal knowingly being worked toward- get the 4 to the gate together and see if anything changes or triggers for me. Here however, there's no pattern to extend, as it were. Meaning the FV pattern showed "these mobs will not respond, and, these mobs trying to get to the gate area" so the goal was easy "get mobs to the gate area" but here it's like "these mobs will not respond. no further info available" so it's like- the road dead ends at a question mark. If a named mob isn't vending, and not responding; then they're waiting for a flag from someone for some purpose. But with so many variables in the game, without a hint of some kind, whether by pattern or by straight up dialogue- it's needle in a haystack territory. But I'll definitely give these a look since I'm here to see the sights anyway

Okay I will definitely check this out. These are zones I'm completely unfamiliar with and I like that there's an arrow pointing in a general direction. But these are definitely not as easy to read as "get them to the gate area" so not as much info to work with here. But didn't have much info initially at FV until sitting around for a while yeilded additional info - so I guess my route will be, go to Shadowland and look for "a shadowy figure"

The Bixie Evolution

Heading over to the Gravedigger quest today - spent yesterday getting an acumen mask that i've been waiting forever to get (had to wait for Unrest zone to stop being super-high level)

Good luck with the grave digging quest, I haven't been able to mess around with it since I'm just starting my thesis for college. Anyways I think the odd fellow mentioned is Slosean, since you get an ale stained note and he keeps talking about his lost short ale when you hail him. I've tried talking to him and handing him the mask with different factions, currently at amiably, but he still won't take it, same with all the other npc's at taverns in Shadowhaven.

I'm not sure if this helps in any way but it's info so- I got here and waited, I was trying to hail a guy kneeling at a tomb (only response *I miss you Reeza*) when a glyph covered dude appeared and started back so I followed and there are two NPCs: Tvan Gurrish and Rett Jimmins and two glyph covered undead. First time Rett died and got the dialogue from Tvan plus the object. Haven't used it yet. Went back and saved Rett the second time, but Tvan died. Hailed Rett and he says "I've got nothing to say to you"

Rett is just standing there, doesn't despawn like Tvan did.

edit: waited and Tvan respawned with the two glyph mummies who attack and kill Rett and now I'm back to Tvan. Going to see if I can get them both alive at the same time and try some hail maybe Rett will say something more

edit edit: got them together, no change; Rett only replies "nothing to say to you" and Tvan gives the dialogue and the item then both despawn.

Quick question- this item, Sara's Porcelain Mask: how do I use this item? It looks like it would go in the face slot but it doesn't, and if I put it in inventory still no change to my relevant abilities. I am a wizard so look like I can use this.

Might be part of a quest, have you tried to Identify it yet? There might be something useful to get from identifying it.

Shadowhaven is big.

Side question that I'm going to put here because it may be relebant in the long run, but I'm running into humans that give me the "you high elves already ruined your own land, now get lost" (a problem that comes up for me). Not long ago I ran a quest which gave me a mask with the illusion "Daft Trickster" and when I got it I was like, "Cool, this will solve the 'we hate elves' problem" but now every time I use the mask and go back, they're like "You joksters have already ruined your own land, now get lost" so it doesn't seem to help. I was originally thinking about Neriak (I have to jump through serious hoops to get hold of a Soulstone) and was "Now I can just walk in and get whatever they sell" but now I'm thinking when I do this, they'll just attack me saying something like "Die Jokster!" instead of "Die high elf" anyone know what the DT illusion is for?

It looks like it's part of this gravediggers quest; you get it off the mob that spawns at the grave where the three words are spoken. But it has stat increases listed, and it's a WIZ useable item; just can't figure out how to put it or or otherwise use it. Tried identify just gives the name "sara's porcelain mask" I thought I'd just go ahead and put it on while I went through Shadowhaven encounters in case it helped to draw a flag off "mr shadow"

item lore on the note though says "Dal Mar Resh may be a bad thing" so that is significant

Most humans should like you, outside of evil types that generally are found under cities and in back room.

Shadowhaven is special though... Amulet of the Haven used to be a must-do to interact with the merchants there. I don't recall if they made it a character flag (I haven't done the quest in years, but also haven't been trying to buy stuff there in years) or if there is other ways to raise the factions.

Whenever you get lip from merchants it just means you need to raise that faction (if possible).

What deity is your wizard? agnostic means illusion potions would easily get you into almost anywhere. For evil cities... having a good deity is a negative faction factor. Class can be as well... but I can't think of a spot that wizard matters (ranger, druid, sk... etc. do matter).

Ok, nooooowww I see what you mean. Huh, well I'll try tonight. I suspect someone at the supply camp may want it. If not there are a few folk in CR who are really into lore of the area.

I'll post after I try.

Gotcha I will get that item and wager that's why the merchants are shutting me down. Thanks.

It's Karana which I know nothing about- I presume a goddess of magic or some standard high elven stock; male paladin who wept tears of moonlight- you know the type. If I would've known agnostic was an option I would've went with that just for the chance at neutralization of faction; but I pretty much just defaulted my character into the game after choosing wizard.

It may be relevant: I tried giving the tome to the artifact hunter in CR (forget his name), and he said "no dice" and I tried to give it to the librarian at the Written Word in CR and she said "no use for this" this is what she says to me. I say "You've got no use for an ancient tome gathered from across the land chronicling the advent of an entire people from days of yore- and you've 'got no use for this'. You are seriously sitting there with a straight face and telling me that 'The Written Word' has 'no use' for this tome penned in the depths of time itself and being a perfect representation of everything it is 'The Written Word' stands for, and yet you 'have no use' well *you* madame have wasted both my time, and the time of my associate!" and she just sat there, completely speechless. You should've seen it.

But the thing is that a couple of nights ago I was sitting around looking through the achievment things (still don't understand what these are for- is this just "hey, here's a blueprint for if you just want to follow this and this gives you a working skeleton to fill in; if you don't, then don't, but here it is if you want it" or does doing the achievments give you something you otherwise wouldn't get- extra mana, item rewards, etc. I know that the quests and such involved in the achievment will give you things, but does the achievment itself give you anything?) and I noticed one in the Moors with 4 parts; guy is named something like "Assisstant Avellone" and these four quests in this achievemnt block, were his quests, and this lead to the fourth part (which is the only one of mine to have the green checkmark) called something - The Bixie Evolution so that is probably significant. I tried to give the book to him but "no use for this" and I'm like "You've got no use for this ancient tome on Bixies, you the guy who is obsessed with Bixie this Bixie that - you've got 'no use' for this... you know.

Actually, Karana is an old man. He is more or less considered good, but officially, he is neutral.

https://www.everquest.com/deities

according to Everquest.com Karana is NEUTRAL. But for the most part, only "good" races can use him as a deity.

Karana is a druid/ranger deity for the Qeynos side of town which gets him lumped in with the 'good' deities in Everquest. Everquest II may treat him more neutrally.

These are part of the Hero's Journey. I am currently following this with my Chanter. I only have to kill the Bixie Queen in the Hive to finish one sector, and deliver a potion to another Queen in the Mesa then kill her to finish another. These are proving difficult while moloing with a self equipped Chanter. So many adds and low mana pool. Smiley: lol

There's two queens in that? I did the "get the queen" quest from the dude hiding in the stone hive area but she was too much for me. Just too many hp and not enough mana to get the job done. Everything else in the throne room was toast in a couple of minutes but Queenie just would not go down easy.

edit: Okay it just occurred to me that the second queen you're talking about is the ptolmeid Queen by the waterfall in Goru'kar. She's a creampuff compared to the Bixie Queen.

Tunaire could totally kick Karana's *** though. !@#$%ing rain gods.

We used to have a Questions and Answers forum for these, but it didn't get used enough so it went away

Hm that's definitely different. Usually (while elves themselves tend to be general nature-lovers sure), wood elves are usually the nature/druid and high elves are all about magic/wizardry. Color me surprised the high elves have the ranger/druid deity.

Pfft, please. This is Karana:

This is Tunare:

Do high elves get Karana as a deity choice? I guess if you have a high elf with Karana as the deity, you'd know.

Karana is the patron deity for Surefall Glade (human/half-elf rangers/druids) and obviously known throughout the Karanas (go figure). I assumed all the Faydark people were restricted to Tunare. So, yeah, if he's a choice for high elves that would seem odd to me but I never looked into it either.

For tales of divine confusion, my bard selected Quellious based on the text description as a peaceful introspective wanderer which gave me a mental image of some old kung-fu guy (the fact that he's a monk deity choice as well helped) or nomadic horseman. Then I saw a picture and my deity was apparently a six year old girl who looked like a Precious Moments figurine.

Not sure when I'll be posting, have a few days busy coming up but thought I'd post on the gravedigging quest this:

Have been rounding the taverns in Shadowhaven looking for Mr. Shadow (haven circlet working like a charm, thanks snailish again) and nothing unusual so far. I am thinking, perhaps in flavor he is only a night spawn? Shadowhaven itself is pretty big, and a night spawn cuts into considerable timings so could be difficult to pin him down (if he is even supposed to be here)

Still going over the "could be a bad thing" letter and the words Dal Mar Resh for signficance (that the letter has this lore to begin with means something)

I've messed around in Shadowhaven for a few days and haven't seen any timed spawns other than the Tiplo The Gardener. Also it can't really be a night spawn since you're on the moon :P
