They already have AA's to replace spells like Gate and druid/wiz evacs. They even have AA's that replace root and snare spells, for selected classes. They have some damage spell AA's like druid's Storm Strike. They have AA's that replace some debuffs like druid's Hand of Ro and an enchanter slow.
So why not allow a broader range of spells to be "converted" to AA's, again maybe selectively per spell? Like I'd spend 20 aa's to get an AA version of druid port to Plane of Knowledge since I cast it fairly enough and, of course, I always have to mem it first. It's not like this would be "game-altering" in terms of mana conservation since these ports cost literally a "drop in the bucket" in terms of mana for high-level druids and wizzies.
Maybe also add AA's to reduce the cast time of such spells beyond what's already available. The group port takes 24 secs to cast. You can reduce it to 12 secs with various existing AA's. Why not allow it to get close to instant? Could always make it non-castable during combat, although druids already get an INSTANT evac so not such a big deal (except for recast timer, I suppose.)
None of these changes are essential, by any means, more of removing some of the tedium from the game and allowing high-AA players to get some "special perks" as a reward for continuing to grind out the AAXP. I'm focused here more on my main, a druid, but similar utility spell improvements could be developed for most classes.
