Everquest VS Everquest II

#1 Jan 28 2013 at 12:28 PM Rating: Decent
I just wanted to add my agreement here. I played the original EQ back when the level cap was 50...was proud to get my DE necro to 45th lev and worked hard to get tailor skills such that I could make 10 slot backpacks..a big deal then :) I left when I got frustrated with an issue on factions that I spent way too much time on. Played a number of others since then. It's been over 10 yrs and I decided to play around again in EQ.

I also find that all he newer MMORPG's are very just way way too easy. It's less like playing a game and more like going through many steps that are clearly layed out for you. Don't get me wrong EQ in it's original form needed to fix problems like the endless camping for less common mobs was a bad thing for sure along with a number of other things I believe they've addressed. To me however it is more of a real game with risk vs reward. Yes, I really have to think do I want to go deep in some nasty place to get that item because if I die my cost is there...I rarely die because I take the time to think it through and plan it out. All my spells aren't just automatically popped on me when I level I have to actually hunt for them. Someone else may complain about these things but to me that is a big part of an adventure game.

Mind you I could still think of a ton of things that could be improved. I have yet to find a true MMORPG that plays like desktop gaming. Many have tried.
Necro Warning: This post occurred more than thirty days after the prior, and may be a necropost.
