I wanted to start an auction channel similar to EQOA. It's just a place to sell your items to fellow players without being flammed for spamming. Feel free to join /pauction anytime!

I thought there was an auction channel already. Since I do play on povar I will see.
There is an auction channel. /auction.
It is interesting how many players do not know of basic 14 year old features because EQ has litle or hidden documentation.

After 16 years, I'm not listing every friggin character.

Fortis is back, sort of. Very limited playtime and free-to-play. Is this the new (old/new) way for the peons like us to sell/trade? My trader is apparently not privileged enough to list items in the bazaar anymore.

Auction is a zone wide channel only, I assume the OP is wanting to establish a server wide channel.

FORTIS Since you have free to play there is a limit as to what you can do with it.
If you are still on povar look for courtin, or jonwin. They are both in Unholy Czars. Aude Sapere still has my shaman Jonwinie.
Now go and read then re-read the returning players thread here.
I thought the /auction channel was server wide.

/auction is server wide but it's not widely known.
It's fascinating like living in the Dark Ages they didn't know the Greeks already invented everything.

/auction is only zone-wide, like /ooc.
EDIT: To clarify, if you have two toons in different zones, they won't see each others /auction lines, but if they're in the same zone they will see them (assuming they don't have them filtered in options).

Really ! You don't think that saying that peoples ignorance after 14 years is amazing is in anyway aggressive.

My take was totally one of "this game is so complex, and SOE does such a ****-poor job of providing documentation, that veteran players often don't really know how stuff works".
I've been playing since 2000, and I'm still running across stuff I didn't know, that is useful. I just learned last week that you can configure a key for "cycle through nearby corpses" and "cycle through extended targets". Probably mentioned in a patch note when they were introduced, but was probably on a break when it happened. That one tip alone (corpses) will save a ton of time when looting lots of brownie-size mobs. They're always a pain to target while looting.
They have those tips which show up when you log in to the game. Unfortunately, they have VERY few different ones (maybe 10). Having said that, one of them was a huge tip for me. I never knew you could dump one bag's contents to another bag by control-clicking. I'd love to see that tip screen greatly expanded, and have them put a couple hundred similar tips in place.

Hell, I've been playing since LDoN and I didn't know for a fact whether /auction was server or zone wide. I assumed it was zone-wide, but I didn't know.
I've been playing for most of a decade and I'm pretty sure there are still 474675256378485 little things about the game that other veterans assume are common knowledge that I am totaly unaware of.
If, (not in this case, of course), but if someone used sarcasm in the course of teaching me something new I might not appreciate the sarcasm, but I'd still be the wiser, and I'm OK with that. Maybe it's just me.

hehe, I've been playing since Kunark, and I haven't used /auction since they introduced the Bazaar :)
Just for grins, I parsed my log files for the last couple of months, and I don't see anyone using the /auction channel on my server (Tunare). Of course, if it's single-zone only, as you've mentioned, then it's not too surprising, since I do very little hanging out in PoK/GL/etc. And I haven't been near max level since PoP, so I'm never where the crowds are, either.
