Hello Allakhazam!
Im an EQ newbie and I have NO IDEA what I am doing when im playing EQ.
Mainly I have no idea WHAT to do. I used to play WoW and my mother used to play EQ, but I have no idea what there is to do in EQ quest, or dungeons, or anything else. I feel like all I can do is grind.
Could someone give me an idea as to what I can do to level, or earn money (all this in a group, I brought a friend with me to EQ).
Please try to describe in detail where to go and what to do.

first u need to goto mapfiend.com download the package for all the maps. read the tutorial on how to install the maps properly... the maps will tell you named mob spawns as well as camp locations.
then you need to finish the tutorial (at about level 10)
then you head to the Plane of Knowledge.
Then you find a Mercenary Liason. it doesnt matter what race as long as they have a tank mercenary (some races cant be tanks)
Do Not Worry About Buying Gear!!!!
each of you get a tier 5 mercenary tank type (they will be able to solo almost anything till u hit about 55 or 60)
Then on your screen next to the chat bar (to the left of it i think) is a menu with a button that says "Find" hit that and look for "Hotzones" on the right hand Column. (can also use this to find the Mercenary liason) and the portal to crescent reach wich is the first hotzone on the list i think.
also if ur mom isnt playing EQ anymore ask if you can take over her account i guarantee its still there with all her characters and plats, unless all her plat is on a level 1 mule character those are all gone.
if you have any other questions just send a tell to Rethgouls on the Erollisi Marr server. i have no idea how to do Cross server messages ur better off asking that question on your server general chat.

Read, then re read the New and returning players sticky on this forum. Then read the "did you know" thread.
Until you get into a raid guild all you do will be grinding. Im not in a raid guild, through choice, I am usually happy with grinding as I can get groups, or help when I need it.

Mapfiend does or did not have all of the maps they where still missing RoF expansion.At the last i had checked (about a week ago)

If still some ROF maps missing on "Mapfiend", he can try "EQ Resource" for map downloads.
