Hello people of eq,

I am starting myself a shadow knight and, am new to playing a melee class. I have become bored always playing a mage, or

necromancer. I want to try a melee class and was wondering would what it take to be a successful Shadow knight. I know I can

utilize the mercenaries, defiant gear and buy alternate ability points as they become available. What are some suggestions

anyone may have to solo successfully until my 80’s then maybe I can start grouping with others. Thank you in advance for your

feedback.

Don't solo...get groups have fun, be social. Everything will happen faster from levels to AA's.

Not really a lot of "tricks" in being a melee class. Just keep your gear updated. I start looking at new armor about every 5 levels, and weapons about every 10.
Keep up to date on your 1h skills and at least 2 of the 2hd skills as you never know what nice weapon will be coming your way.

Definitely avoid soloing if you have the opportunity to group. Lower level SKs have fairly low DPS so you'll level faster in a halfway decent group. And if you can't FIND a group MAKE one. Summon a merc and then in /general chat advertise "Group of 2 LFM" ("looking for more.") You'd be surprised how well that can work.

Start a 2. account just for the fun. A SK has very low dps and just needs too long to kill the mobs.
In case you take the cleric merc, this will cost you the half of the exp per kill and dont give any dps.
You defenitly need 1 more player to have lots of fun and level fast. Get a friend ( or 2 :-) ) or start
a 2. account to get a shammy. This will improve your dps and you can heal yourself. Mercs are good
but not needed.

Have fun, its a group game.....
