My brother and I got the slow-levelling necros to 75. We'd set out to do that a while ago and the double-xp weekend just made it easier.

We also activated our old box account for 1 month to prepare it for the free to play world. Decided to use 75 necros to our advantage over the last week and have boosted a pile of our lost in the 50s alts into the 60s (we even took the box ranger to 71... not bad for a character that has been 51 for 6 years).

Since we were kiting on the necros to leech the xp we didn't even have to use the hotzones (which were pretty crowded). It's funny... 50-65 is one of the worst grinds in the game (still) if you don't have support (especially no mercs) but one 75 necro in the group and it is an afternoon of trivial kiting. 66-75 is only slightly better (at least spells are easier to get 71+ for rank 1s).

They really should look at significantly boosting the quest XP (even if just in TSS since that's a modern quest chain that goes up to 75) so that returning, solo, friendless and so on have a better route through that range if they want to speed it up.

Hadn't played much the past two weeks, but got some time in this week and weekend. Been spending alot of time getting upgrades for toons. The Abstruse HoT gear is pretty awesome, considering the Ranger was in a mix of 70s raid gear, and 75-80ish group gear. Octavia got my Rogue to 69 and a 100 or more AAs, which was nice. Yther got solidly into 81, and about 60 AAs. Still way behind with all the newer lower level AAs available. I'm hoping to try out some Headshotting this week, and see how it goes. At first glance, when it happened, I wasn't too upset with the nerf, but after realizing they lowered the level you can kill at ranks, but added more ranks you could buy at a level, I didn't like it. Then after trying it out, I really didn't like it. I was used to using Hail of Arrows line of spells, and constantly cycling through targets so I never had to turn autofire back on. With the new system, you'll never get a proc, 'cause you're on a different target before the arrow lands, so never targeted on the possible proc mob, thus no proc. Smiley: frown

Almost maxed Anatomy on the Rogue, and can't wait to try out some Assassinations and see how that goes.

I felt pretty good about tanking on Yther, although the content wasn't really difficult (LP Worgs), other than being on the old, slow computer that can't render correctly. Most textures are translucent, and water textures take precedence in the foreground over any other blocking texture, so it's very difficult to navigate. Only benefit of it, is you can see mobs through walls and stuff, but that leads to alot of trying arrow something you don't have line of sight on. Smiley: tongue

Also, bought 4 good augs from the Faycitum merchant. I probably need to figure up all my mod2s and see what's low. I remember with the older equipment, I was way shy of max on avoidance, but had most shielding maxed or near max, but that has probably changed alot with the newer equipment, especially with the loss of alot of mod2 slot 8 augs. I hadn't realized I had so few good slot 7 augs, since Yther has been wearing mostly raid armor for so many years. The Faycitum augs were all slot 7 or 8, which was nice.

Well that's about it. A lot of time grinding, and alot of time getting equipment upgrades, pretty much sums up my weekend in game. Smiley: smile

My crew dinged 87 this weekend.

At the moment I am in SoD and have 5 pieces of tier 3 gear. As soon as I finish the progression quest I will be able to get the next piece...arms I think, I have the drops, just need the flag. ;-)
Over the last 15 months, we've traveled to every corner of the United States. I've now been in 57 states? I think one left to go.

Spent Friday and Saturday in a narcotic haze, while pushing pain levels in pt for my knee replacement. Did so well they sent me home a day early. Spent Sunday in a partial narcotic haze while watching TV, looking at web sites, and pt on the knee.
Elne drove me to lab today for blood draw then had her first "accident" with the car when she backed into a stanchion on the pharmacy parking lot. No damage to the car, and truth be told I have hit it once or twice myself. Spent the afternoon watching Band of Brothers on spike tv.

Tinkering is a trade skill which will not prevent the mobs from hitting you.

You still get procs, even if you switch targets.

Try it out sometime when you have a group of 6 or so (if you have vinelash) from as far away as you can get and still shoot arrows. Often times you will shoot 2-4 arrows(depending on trickshot) that are all in the air at the same time. And since the proc doesn't register until the arrow hits, you can already be on the next mob shooting or casting Hail, while the previous one dies.

About my weekend though:

I got a late start on double xp cause I was working in Vegas Friday and Saturday. But when I got home on Sunday, I had my lesson and a 4hr xp potion waiting for me.

I got about 700 aa's total before I had to raid tonight. It felt really good to fill CS/CA, General sturdiness, healing adept/gift, and my innate STA and AGI increasers (UF, HoT, and VoA... not the PoP ones). I got a huge boost in both AC and HP this weekend from those.

I'm working on upgrading my aug set with some of the better newer ones. I have a pretty good set for SoD, but now I have a list of some better UF, HoT, and VoA augs that are easily camped , or have chance to drop in a group mission chest. This weekend while headshotting camps were claimed I camped Dreameater in lower house for the Slippery Slimerock. I lucked out, having only to kill one round of ph's before he spawned AND dropped my aug the first time! So I moved on to Envoy Frindar in the Underquarry, but haven't got him to spawn yet.

I also bought a couple more VoA T2 raid non-vis items. And I picked up a T2 hammer tonight from our raid. So now I am only 2 slots away from being fully VoA T2 raid geared.

So with the aa's, the gear, and a couple augs I have been able to rise to almost the top of the magelo rankings for rangers on EMarr: #1 for AC and #2 for HP. (As of tonight the numbers on the ranking haven't updated to reflect it, but if you click on my magelo you'll see the actual numbers).

I've never been one to worry too much about the magelo or eqplayers rankings, but it is kinda fun being there, lol.

I have to admit a couple months ago, I was wondering if I would even buy the expansion and continue playing. But here I am having a blast again. EQ has successfully kept me playing, lol. They must be doing something right.

I had tried it out for about 30mins, and it never worked. I had to stay on target to get a proc. I will try it again when I get around to it though. Maybe was just a really long fluke of the random number generator. If that's the case, then it won't be so bad.

EDIT: Grats on the ranking Greenshag!

Took advantage of the double XP weekend and got a few levels on my shaman. He's up to 56 now, almost 57 (or is that 57 almost 58? I forget.) I should ding quickly once I get online and rolling again.

Spent some time camping Skyfire for the Spirit of the Howler spell I needed. Got lots of other spells, and 2 cleric fragments, but no spell. Donated the other spells I got to the guild bank. Our researcher logged on and made me the spell, so I got my updated pet spell now. Woohoo.

Also spent some time in Field of Bone, working on Cabalis faction. Was there for quite a while yesterday in fact, while doing other things IRL. May I add in at this point DYT!! (If the person who that's directed at sees this, he'll know what I mean.)

Was a decent weekend actually. No raiding; cancelled for the double XP. To resume tonight I think, though it's difficult for me to raid during the week. I get tired early and log off around 9pm to relax in front of the TV.

Re-subbed sometime within the past two weeks, spent the weekend sick as a dog, struggling once again with my altitis.

Then, my trial accounts (which I was using to box with) expired, and I decided to roll a Bard on Firiona Vie. I don't have a huge amount of time in which to play anymore, so enjoying the server XP boost is nice.

Leaving to visit home on Monday. Looking forward to it, but also looking forward to the inception of f2p on the 1st.

Cabilis faction (I've maxed them on my Drakkin Necro) is a truly worthy goal!

I found Warslik's Woods to be the prime spot for a couple of reasons:

1. the various iksar bandit camps (particularly the Iksar Bandit Lord even though he doesn't give the faction hits --but his camp is extremely easy to semi-afk --coughs-- the faction). You also get necro guild + hits from these guys too.

2. the various goblins are even funny to grind for the Legion of Cabilis faction as you'll also get Firiona Vie outpost faction. [Pretty sure my evil necro is maxed positive there too]

Goblins can also spawn Grachnist the Destroyer though my luck never held and I killed literally 1000s to not get Shrunken Goblin Skull Earring .

3. Legion of Cabilis is the way to go because Trooper Mozo's bone chip quest lets you raise all the factions but the necro guild (back to those Iksar Bandits being useful...). As a necro I bought the meat-to-bone AA and used stacks of vendor meat from Thurgadin. 4k bone chips later I was loved...

4. Brood of Kotiz the necro guild though... not a part of the bone chip quest. Now, I was doing this as a necro to get the skullcaps (and be loved in my adopted city of Cabilis). I worked through the stages of the skullcap and got to stage 8 and was able to repeat the phrase multiple times for faction ups. Note that this might have been changed... and was apparently (then) only worked if you were high enough for that stage of the quest anyways. Now... if that is still true, some might be able to monkey around with illusions/alliance and such to use the old shortcut.
