I am getting an error trying to log in to EQ. It comes up in a grey box and says:

Package load failed or was cancelled (network error during NPAP download:http://manifest.patch.station.sony.com/patch/sha/manifest/eq/eq-en/live/eq-en-tcg.sha.soe(o of 0 bytes, 0 seconds) - Retry failed: socket Error: Host not found(11001)- etc. etc

Is anyone else having a problem trying to log in? I tryed to go to the Sony forums, but can't get there either.

They are horked. Can't get into the game, can't get onto the forums. Not sure what's going on. Hopefully it will get fixed soon.

Are any on Suddenlink ISP?

Anyway, you can use the patchme shortcut to get into the game, if it has been patched recently.

Right click on your current shortct, Send to, Desktop (as shortcut) That will create a 2nd shortcut for you.

Right click on the new shortcut.

Add a space then patchme at the end of the target section. It will look something like the following.

c:\gamefolder\eqgame.exe patchme

or

"c:\game directory with long names\eqgame.exe" patchme (there is a space after the quotation marks and patchme

Thanks, not on Suddenlink, but this worked for me. Been having issues since about 1 EST

Another route is to right click on your current shortcut, Send to.. Desktop (as shortcut).

Now, right click on the new shortcut, properties and in the Target box, add a space then patchme at the very end. If there are quotation marks, this goes OUTSIDE the quotes.

This will bring up the old log in screen. You should be able to enter the game, unless you have not logged in awhile and need patching.

didn't work with the modification you suggested, guess have to wait until they resolve the issue.

I am having this exact issue, this is not a local/patch/shortcut issue, on 3 PC's or even our Samsung Galaxy pad (using the 3G not WiFi) I cannot log into any Sony site that has authentication, be it Forums, eqplayers, even soe.com as soon as I hit the login button it goes to "webpage is not available".

doing a tracert patch.everquest.com 13 hops, but 4th & 7th hop "request timed out" which are on SOE's subnet I believe would be authentication servers.

My best guess at this point is a regional NOD on SOE subnet is Kaput. unless nobody else having this issue is nowhere near Connecticut, or possibly with Optimum Online ISP, I am missing something simple and overly frustrated to see it.

will try and login to EQ tomorrow after the patch...

i also live in CT and can not log into dcuo as well as being unable to even access their forums through an ipad using 3g... let alone my home wifi. I did call them earlier asking about this and the dude was like... "uhh i wasnt even aware of it... this is the first I have heard maybe its your internet" so i told hom to try and get on and he goes "uhh yeah i guess there is something going on.." he then proceeded to email me with one of those customer satisfaction serveys... twice....

I got an especially nasty error message (note that this is likely only a tiny fraction of the entire message):

Package load failed or was cancelled (Network error during NPAPI download: http://manifest.patch.station.sony.com/patch/sha/manifest/eq/eq-en/live/eq-en-tcg.sha.soe (0 of 0 bytes, 0 seconds) - Retry failed: SocketError:Host Not Found (11001) - http://manifest.patch.station.sony.com/patch/sha/manifest/eq/eq-en/live/eq-en-tcg.sha.soeSocketError:Host Not Found (11001) - http://manifest.patch.station.sony.com/patch/sha/manifest/eq/eq-en/live/eq-en-tcg.sha.soeSocketError:Host Not Found (11001) - http://manifest.patch.station.sony.com/patch/sha/manifest/eq/eq-en/live/eq-en-tcg.sha.soeSocketError:Host Not Found (11001) - http://manifest.patch.station.sony.com/patch/sha/manifest/eq/eq-en/live/eq-en-tcg.sha.soeSocketError:Host Not Found (11001) - http://manifest.patch.station.sony.com/patch/sha/manifest/eq/eq-en/live/eq-en-tcg.sha.soeSocketError:Host Not Found (11001) - http://manifest.patch.station.sony.com/patch/sha/manifest/eq/eq-en/live/eq-en-tcg.sha.soe)

I can't get into EQ2 or Vanguard either. The SOE forums seem to be down as well.

According to several internet sources, some Sony sites, including incidentally eqplayers and wherever the launchpad gets its files from, have been brought down by a concentrated denial of service attack by Anonymous.

So you cannot browse eqplayers or the related forums, and if your installation for whatever reason needs to update the launchpad, it fails. With no access to the relevant sites, you cannot fix it by re-installing the launchpad, it just says "oops... internal error on our servers".

Our family had one machine that broke and a couple others that could log into the game fine. At first, just to allow the person using the broken installation to play for raids, I used the patchme trick. You need to execute EQGAME.EXE with a parameter "patchme". I did it the way that seemed easiest to me, opening a DOS command window, changing to the everquest folder, and typing the line:

EQGAME patchme

Ymmv, you could set up a shortcut to do the same.

Note that you are NOT executing everquest.exe... that may fail in various ways.

Then, after raids were over I copied all the launchpad files from a working machine to the broken one. Note that there are a few files in the everquest main directory with names starting with launchpad, and also a new subdirectory tree launchpad.libs that probably also needs to be copied.

After that, the broken machine works normally. If they do not get the sites fixed and they try to push a patch things may break for everyone though.

I think she means she's still getting the error. If her husband can get in, then maybe it's a setting on her system that is interfering.
