Anyone have Mappie or a working link to it?Follow

I've spent all day (well 6hrs so far) going through CDs looking for a saved copy of it, as all the links I've found online aren't working and the home page site is down (it's on a private computer I think, that's only up when they're on and have the server turned on). Anyway, I'm about out of CDs to look at that are handy (around 1000 or however many it takes to fill up 6 shelves of a large bookcase), and would like to use it to test out some map stuff I'm working on, since doing it in-game requires camping to server, and sometimes all the way out to get it to refresh map changes. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

No, mappie is program that edits and displays EQ in-game maps, out of game, and allows you to do some basic manipulations: Mass Change one color to another, and a few other things in newer versions. One of the non-working links I've found (there's not many links at all): http://meow.dyndns.org/Mappie/

EDIT: All the links at http://www.theclenchedfist.com/ lead back to the previous link, so not currently working either. Smiley: frown

Thanks. I couldn't remember the original site name. Unfortunately it's not working at this moment, but since it's a dynamic dns website. I'll keep trying. The webarchive page shows, but apparently they don't have the EXE file archived.

EDIT: I may just have to end up writing my own VB program. I had planned on doing it and had started on one a long time ago before I found Mappie. I got about 100 or so more CDs I haven't looked through yet. Maybe, just maybe it's on of those. /crossfingers

lol Thank you Bijou. Yther hopefully that worked.

I've been a long time lurker here and have not posted much but with such a small community now, I guess it's time to speak up.

Careful Msjackie or I will have to rate you down for almost a necro post.

Mappie is a great little program. I use it frequetly. Whoever made the maps for many of the old zones (the ones on Mapfiend) thought using light grey was a good idea for the borders, and that drives me nuts. So hard to see in game. I use Mappie to change them to black.

I had a previous working version of Mappie. It worked fine on Windows XP 32 bit. When I tried to use the same file on Windows 7 64 bit Pro, it failed to run. Uninstalling and reinstalling did nothing, and running in compatibility mode did nothing. Does anyone have a workaround?

As for the camping out to change maps, usually I can edit any map as long as I'm not currently in the zone I am trying to edit. If I need to edit my current map, I simply change the map in the atlas to anything else except the current zone and I can edit as needed, and then switch back to the current zone when I am done editing.

I couldn't quickly find the link on Microsoft's site, but it may be on this wiki page at http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Windows_Virtual_PC for Microsoft's Virtual PC, which will allow you to emulate many older versions of windows.

It should work without an emulator on Windows 7, and may be due to a missing Visual C or VB Runtime engine needed for it.

Hope this helps some.
