Male playing male characters.

Although when I first started I played female characters as I thought that added to my over-all roleplaying experience.

I got tired of people hitting on me. Seriously.

Obviously my guildies haven't yet replied to this pole. We have at least a couple guys whose mains are females.

It was very confusing when I first joined the guild.

Male playing Female. Oddly enough, when I played City of Heroes, I was split at least 50/50 but all of my current EQ characters are dames. Then again, most of the male EQ models look like ***.

Male playing female here.

Sort of a funny story. My first 3 chars were all male. Then a group of friends, all men decided we'd make some new chars that were all females.

Needless to say they all quit that char around 50, and I was too far along to start over.

Thank goodness she's an Ogre so I don't get hit on too much. But she is a sexy cross-dresser!

Male playing Female. In a similar situation to one above, a group of friends decided we should all "play chicks" for a hoot. They all gave up around 30 something but I found I enjoyed the class more than anything and refused to delete a perfectly good toon. Of 5 toons over 50, she is the only female and is actually a boxed toon for the most part.

Additionally, just for giggles, my wife started a male Ranger when she started playing. He is still her main. She also has several other toons above 50, all of whom are female.

Serious MANGINA here...

My original Everquest Toon is Soriano Thunderforge a level 56 Dwarf Paladin (Blacksmith 210). And I did enjoy his role...but made a female druid to help farm tradeskill items for him and just fell in love with the druid class...

I have a 70 Druid (female), 69 Cleric (female), 66 Enchanter (female), 56 Paladin (male) and 42 Wizard (male)

You need to have an answer on there saying plays both.

I am a male that has 4 male characters and 1 female character that started her life as my bazaar mule. The female character took on a life of her own when I realized that I had enough equipment for the class of character that she was. Since then she has become my "main".

I still play the 4 guys and even continue to level the 4 guys, but the female is leveling the quickest. And yes guys thanks for the free gear.

You know, in five years or so of playing various female characters, the sum total of my randomly given free gear (i.e. not from friends or guildies) was a Polished Granite Tomahawk. Given to a female troll I was playing Smiley: dubious

I must need to giggle more or something.

I'm a Male playing Female.

My first set of characters were male, then i started playing my enchanter who is female and to prevent people from hitting on me i tend to change into an illusion that will tend to cause people to not flirt. Orc, troll, ogre are pretty good for that as is skeletons or elementals hehe

I think people have figured out it doesn't pay to give free stuff to a sexy wood elf newbie.

Or you might want to stop playing troll chicks, there's not enough beer in EQ to make them look good. Smiley: boozing

Male playing female. I did have a male character at one point or another. My wife exclusively plays female characters.

It's so common for men to play women (back in the day, there were even less female players than there are now), that only the really young and/or naive players tend to expect players with female avatars to themselves be female. I don't find myself in too many situations where someone tries to hit on me.

Then again, I don't RP at all either, so I'm quick to set people straight when they let their starving libidos influence their online behavior.

I have thought about creating a female char but would feel out of place. Had a friend tell me that female trader mules make more plat because people go to them before they would a male char. I say he's wrong. I go to the person with the lowest price :)

As I don't have "main characters" in any game, I had to pick the last option.

Of the characters I have played most frequently this year, gender balance is running about 50-50. I really don't pay that much attention - depends what mood I am in when I creat the character. Often I don't even check which gender the default is on.

I have never noticed that it makes any difference whatever to my gameplay. It's always apparent to anyone that I group with that the player behind the keyboard is male, however; I have never attempted to mislead anyone about my rl gender.

Never understood why this is even an issue in a setting where you can play as a seven-foot tall talking cat.

I have always liked playing clerics and my main is a cleric who follows bertoxullous. She looks almost like me IRL and I really enjoy healing my tanks and letting wizzies die Smiley: laugh

My guild has lots of men who play female characters and even some women who play male characters. We use a teamspeak server and its very interesting to match peoples voices to the characters, although it can become very odd when you have a butch manly voice matched to a female character Smiley: rolleyes

What I love about EQ is the diversity of people who play. Logging into teamspeak or my old guilds ventrillo you would hear every american accent, british and canadian, all sorts. I melt when I hear a particular southern drawl, one ex guildie had THE sexiest voice and I miss hearing him. I will never understand why americans find my accent so alluring, I am flirted with 10 times more since talking on teamspeak Smiley: laugh

I am a male and all my characters are male.

However, I THINK my Froglok SHM might be a female. When I look at my Magelo profile updating page, it says "update her equipment." I don't specifically recall clicking "male" when I made the character, but I wouldn't have specifically made a female. I really can't tell what it is my looking at him/her. =/

Female playing female characters. I tried playing a male character once, but it just didn't feel right. He never made it past level 6.
