Yep, that's me.

I took my Shammy to the ry gorr fort in Eastern Wastes at 35 to camp a spell drop for level 35.

Well, he has made it to level 37 off of the yellow and red mobs there...albeit time consuming (kill one-med,kill one-med) it has been working well for the limited play time on this toon.
Here is where the lost-cause comes in...

Just from killing these guys he has gathered enough plat to actually buy this spell in the bazaar.

I just can't talk him into leaving the zone...he kills one, meds up...

You get the idea, he says it is a matter of pride and if he has to stay until they are green to him...he will get the spell from the legionaires or the blacksmith, then he sticks his fingers in his ears and goes nanananana while I try to explain to him that he can buy it now...

Rofl...anyone else have something they just have to do themselves...no matter what?

I had the same ambition to wait until my Pally spell dropped off of one of the wyrms in the Great Divide. It was a real pain in the bum, especially with all the wonderer's up and about. Funny how every other spell drops for all the other classes, sometimes twice...In the end though, your toon is better off skill and experience-wise and you get a sense of accomplishment:)

Yeah, I know exactly what you mean. Once I've made up my mind to do a quest, I do it no matter what.

I died in Kedge Keep no fewer than 10 times to get Divine Might If I had ever been on a Phinny raid, or if I had any idea where I was going, I wouldn't have died at all. But no, I had to explore the deepest most dangerous part of Kedge - one death at a time.

i refuse to buy a shrunken goblin skull earring or an enduring breath item. I would rather spend 5 hours in Warsliks for the damned earring than pay 5k for the stupid thing.

Same with enduring breath item. I usually just end up killing Hadden a couple of times til I get his earring.

I spent months working on the Rogue Master Sketch. A relativly useless item but I take more pride in it than my epic.

I have seen that spell drop like fine steel weapons inside of TOFS. But yea it can take forever to get a spell out of that fort. I was in there a long time ago when I was playing a druid and the druid only spell (forget the name, something like immolation of ro?) dropped. At the time velious was the newest expansion so this was a highly sought after item. I ended up losing it to a ranger who had a lvl 5 druid alt :/.

I too have played this game. I killed Wurms in GD also for my 40th level chanter spell, Boon of the Garou. I actually got fairly lucky as it was about the 4th or 5th spell to drop. I also have a pally who will be doing the same thing.

As for Tumultous Strength....that same chanter and pally got that off the Librarian on 2nd floor of ToFS. So it is now sitting in my lvl 17 shammy's bank....waiting for the day it can be used Smiley: snore.

Kinda confused me a little bit. You started talking in first person then switched to 3rd person. Is this your toon or are you trying to convince a friend to give it up?

Go back to grading papers or something guy. You put more into this trying to misunderstand it than I did to entertain you. Smiley: smile

Maybe you are trying to read something into it that isn't there. I can't find that part at all. My apologies.Smiley: bowdown

It seems I always come out on the short side in these conversations with my Shammy, 'cause he never listens to me.Smiley: banghead

Did this as a dark elf Wall Squad Ring for no apparent reason. I think I actually destroyed the ring a month or so after I got it without ever using it.

I also did the Hadden Fishbone earring thing. As a matter of fact, I had him camped solid for like a week or two until I had earrings for everyone in the first guild I was in. Even came home from work to catch spawns.

I also have a thing for completing any of the tasks I might get, even if I find out they are completely worthless.

I've camped Hadden before. I spent a week trying to catch him up. I got a lucky break had a few server resets but every time logging in seconds too late watching him pulled by another toon. Finally, one day I literaly logged in the second the server came up. There was hadden standing there, a quick /w shows no one in the zone.

I run in range and start my nuke, which has a relativly long cast time. Before it goes off bam out of nowhere someone tags him, I see him running off into the distance but it was too late 2. 1. my nuke goes off and he drops to the ground a smoldering heap of barbarian goo.

The other toon dejectedly asks why I KSed him. I apologized and explained how I had already had my nuke started. Maybe I should have given him the drop but my greed, anger, frustration, and pure exhaustion got the best of me and I looted the earring, apologized again and waved goodbye to the unfortunate crowd who now only minutes after the server restart ringed the lake hoping to get their own chance at that cursed camp.

Back a few expansions ago I was doing the ivy-etched bracer quest for my ranger. I finished one bracer. Along with the drop from a named orc in EF and a goblin in DC it required a fire emerald - they sell for about 85pp. Before I went to do the quest for the second bracer I saw the same bracer for sale in the bazaar for 50pp.

So, yeah, I could have bought the bracer for less than I'd spend for one of the pieces for the quest but I did the quest anyways.

I just started killing Frost Giants for their toes to do the first of the Coldain Prayer Shawl quests. I could easily buy the toes in Bazaar (5pp per toe), but it just wouldn't feel right...

Understanding you completely, alwayslost...
