Any Number Crunchers Out ThereFollow

Anyone feel like doing a little math and settle an arguement on EQlive Cleric board? It started regarding a possible broken AA and how often you should get a crit on a HoT. There are 3 different equations given with 3 different answers. I believe NATUREBOYcm is correct. I may get these AA's in the future and would like to know what to expect.

Wow Galthran (notice I won't call you professor) you sure helped a lot by giving your assessment of healing crits. Too bad this is regarding HoT's or heal over time for the newbies. The highest HoT is 1170 per tick and crits heal for double or 2340 no more, no less.

hey i was just stating an observation The % of crits be it damage spells or be it heals should be about the same. Say you do get 9% chance every tick each tick has a chance that needs to be checked with what ever system that EQ uses to allow crits. Some call it the magic dye. Say you roll 100 dice. you have a 9% chance to land lets say 24 6's that would cause you to crit everytime you roll the dice and get 24 of them. 9% isn't that good of a chance on anything.

so you roll the dice 7 times to coincide with your ticks. you have a total % of 63% to crit once a heal combined total. How many times do you crit with it? it should be likely you'd crit once in every 2-3 casts and mabye more than once in every 5-6 casts.

Very nice you can have your "Professor" title back. Those are the numbers I would expect but there were some other numbers thrown in that contradicted it. I assume there simply wrong.
