West Commons WerewolfsFollow

I happened to run through this zone the other day on my way to Kith, and noticed the entire zone was filled with minor, lesser, normal, and greater werewolfs. After maybe 20-30 mins of killing them the entire zone depopped, and since then (maybe 2 days ago) I haven't been able to find them up again. I'm assuming this is part of the halloween stuff that will be going on til the 14th, does anyone have the info on how/when these guys spawn?

one would think a werewolf would only appear during a full moon.

It may be like the skeles last year. IIRC it was from 8P.M. - 6A.M. game time.

However this may not be tied into the Halloween event. I have heard of WC being overrun by werewolves before. Just can't remember when.

The werewolves are part of EQ's yearly Halloween event. They first appeared in 2000 or 2001 if I remember correctly. The first time they did this, there were events in North Ro, West Commonlands, East Karana, The Rathe Mountains, and one other zone, I completely forget because it was so long ago.

The events were made to be done by the level of the people that were supposed to be leveling in the zones. What ended up happening is that the loot that was dropping was so nice for the time, that people were literally having knock-down drag-outs over spawns and selling loot rights for ridiculous sums of money. They did the event the next year and scaled it down to just the werewolves in EC and introduced the skeletons at Butcherblock I think.

Just a bit of Halloween event lore for you. I like this year's event much better than the free for alls they've done in the past. Oh, and for you people who are having a hard time getting pumpkin flesh and/or seeds, get an Unrest mission, the jack-o-lanterns drop them in those as well.

What's the deal with this unrest mission I keep hearing about? Someone mentioned that the mobs hit in the 700's.

For the unrest mission, speak to the NPC in Butcherblock right next to the GFay zone-line. He'll give you a shared task and send you to a lady in Dagnor's, who will then send you back in time to Unrest of the past. I won't give away any details here since the first trip or two have the excitement of learning the story and figuring out what do to.

The mission is great. The mobs are appropriate to your level, the XP is great, and there are no repops.

The prizes for groups with an average level of less than 65 are pretty sad, but the story, zone, and mission are so well done that I enjoy going into the mission with guildies whenever the opportunity arises.

For XP we have gone there simply to group in a zone to ourselves with no repops without even intending to win. You can afk in safety and fight at your leisure there.

The unrest mission has been there for awhile.

I liked the event this year, although I think the biggest mistake SOE made was allowing the tradeskill items to be droppable. Now it is just a bunch of greedy SOB's farming them and selling the stuff for insane prices.

Is there a minimum level for this mission? Could I 2 box it with my 41 chanter and 43 pally? Of course I will find out myself tonight....but I'm at work right now, and impatient as always Smiley: grin

You'll need at least 3 to even get the mission.

i duoed the unrest task with a BL.

now, that bl is one of the top 5 if not top two on our server, and i am pretty high in the listings as a cleric, we had a blast, just had an afk guildy help up get the task. (we did the same for a creator DoN, we won both, great fun!)

if the one drop pumpkin flesh is the same as this on (task starts in DC on the island) it is very do able with an average group of 70's. ALSO a very nice 65hp 65 mana aug can be the final reward.

this was before the holiday quest, and we didn't loot the mobs, is why i am not sure if the jack's dropped flesh. but it WAS in the "unrest" "zone" instanced.

edit, wanted to add, am not sure if it "scales" to your lvl
