Easy Lagg Reducing TipFollow

hey everyone ;-)

just wanted to share a tip that i learned not too long ago.

i have a pretty good system and cable connection. 3.2 ghtz cpu, 256 on board ran vid card, and 2 gig ram (am able to play 3 accounts at once with little to no lag or slow zone times). however, there are a couple of zones that gave me "slow" mouse even if i only had one account running. it used to be just RSS, so i avoided the zone like the plague, nothing like a lagging cleric lol. then they came out with DoD and almost every zone was giving me the "slow" mouse!

well i made a comment in a group about it once, and someone suggested i turn off my shaders. my what? well then they explained to me.

go to options
hit advanced
un-check some or all of the different shaders

POOF!!! lag is gone!

the only draw back to it is i now see a little less detail, example, the stones in PoK i can hardly read now, but that is no matter because i know them all anyway, and if i am not sure, i can check the map. i choose to leave them all turned off all the time because i am too lazy to adjust them as needed. but if you wanted, just turn them off for zones you have trouble in.

try it! it works!

Yes.

That's a huge contributor to lag.

I'd like to add - Defrag your hard drive to reduce lag as well.

I found that sliding the actor clip plane all the way to the left makes a MAJOR diff....but then you cant see any npc or players till your right on top of them hehe...

Sure is nice if your just traveling in a safe zone which has alot of lag and you know where your going sort of thing.

I do not know if this is common knowledge or if a button has been added in options but this helps reduce video lag. It turns off spell and bard song effects.

Kill two birds with one stone
A. reduce lag to like zero with most game stats maxed
B. keep the economy going

buy a really high end puter
AMD 55hx
4 gig+ ram
Sli with 2 7800gtx 512 ea mem on board vids cards
3-4 10000 rpm HD's (1 for each session)
run this over a 42 LCD HD tv
$10,000 should cover this easy with approprate wire junk needed to hook it up and maybe a nice recliner and.................
oh was I sleeping must have been a dream

Turning off Advanced lighting makes a huge difference for me in some zones. Other zone I notice 0 lag with it on.
