What level do you have to be to begin the draniks scar expeditions? I tried with a 40 pally and that was not high enough.

If you're going to try and solo in DS, I'd say you need to be 50-52 depending on twinkage. I think the trash mobs are 43-45, and a lot cast quite a bit. At 40 I'd think everything was yellow or red. If you stick by the PoDs you can pull Dragorn Commoners from the west and then "gate" back to PoK if you get in trouble, not very productive.

My first group to BF was 51-56 and we did OK, OK being we got good exp and no one died. The Tank was the 56.

Regarding Dranik Hollow's Expeditions, I found this quote:

Quote:
Ow, then we now have several ranges for each instance, with different named/loot tables for each:

45-49? Screecher; ?
50?-54? Tatterwing; Jaggers
55?-58? Swaying Murkglider; Swooping Bat
58?-62 Yellowfang; ?
63-67 Scuttling Darkrat; Frenetic Cavebat
68+ Silentpaw; Inky Murkglider

Need to play with this one some more...anyone else have input? Makes you wonder if they have a random list of named to pull from for each instance...

I cannot really confirm this is true (in my experience, most things scale in 5 level increments, on the x3.00 and x8.00 like 63.00 and 68.00 average).

So this person is claiming 45 minimum?

Good luck.

They changed ldon a few patches ago to a 10 level spread like DoN. I've never tried OOW though.

The expeditions were a 10 level spread when I tried them. I started them mid to low 50s. Looks like Felicite has dug up info saying they're 45+, which sounds about right...the OoW expansion was supposed to be rated for 45+ at one point.

The expeditions are awesome experience, although the nameds are a bit stingy with runes and the rare equipment drops. We enjoyed the Firepits theme quite a lot.

Have fun!

Back when we used to do the dranik's expeditions a lot, it would scale the mission depending NOT on the avg. lvl of the group, but on the lvl of the group leader that requests the mission.

Did an expedidition last night for the first time. Had:

54 Shadow Knight
52 Rogue
51 Pally
52 Mage
55 Wizard
58 Druid

We did fine, as we went into the door of the Murkglider/Bat Caves. Then, we started pulling. Druid was MH, SK was MT and puller. Druid heals could take SK from 40 to full health with the 75 percent heal, but drew aggro every time. Each mob required at least one of those, and all were DB to level 58.

Progressed slowly thru the first set of caves, then sat to med and got hit with repops. Moved furthern in. MT asked who had maps of zone. Druid only one with maps of zone. MT wants to go to one of the named pits. Group was like 5 percent into caves, so long way from named areas. MT suggests invis to caves. Group agrees. Druid loads group invis and egress. Run past few mobs. One of them sees invis and nails group member.. have 6 mobs attacking from all directions. Druid casts egress and takes only the wiz with him. (SIGH). Sitting at zone line with wiz to get mana and figure out what to do. Get trained without warning by surviving group member. <loading please wait>. Surviving group member asks why we were just sitting at zone line waiting to be trained.

Group disbands.

Is there a point to the expeditions? I never even saw any loot worth having.

I've gotten a couple of augs/slugworms from the random mobs, plus there are 2 named mobs in each expedition that can drop some decent loot and runes. The named mob locations change depending on lvl of person that gets the mission.
