Solo classesFollow

What classes, give me a few, are good @ soloing thru the game? Please also take into account their ability to help out in parties.
#2 Oct 30 2005 at 8:03 PM Rating: Decent
Necro.
Druid.
Shaman.
Beastlord.
Bard.

Those are the classic soloers. In no particular order.

That's not to say the other classes can't, just not as effectively as the ones listed.

Enchanters can solo.

Magicians can solo.

Wizards can solo.

If you are looking for a character you can equip relatively cheap, and that will be a nice addition to a group, go with a Beastlord.

Edit: hell, I've seen a 70 Paladin solo 3 lvl 65 murks in WoS, without needing a heal.

The best soloer in the game as far as soloing for xp and raw killing is a necro. Nothing else even comes close. They can solo through every level of the game and have the least amount of downtime of any class. After level 50 however many named mobs summon. This is really the only difficulty a necro faces.

As far as parties go necros are very valuable. They distribute massive dps and can feed the others casters mana. The expansion OoW really made necros in demand as almost every mob has mana that a necro can steal and distribute to everyone in the grp.

The games best class IMO.

2nd best is the beastlord. They can solo through the vast majority of the game. They struggle in some spots in the 50's but all and all a solid solo class. They have a little more downtime then necros however they can solo summoning mobs as they tank anyway. You also get the enjoyment of melee combat.

As far as groups a beastlord is highly desireable because of a few key buffs and there ability ti "slow" mobs. They also do decent dps.

The rest of the caster classes are relatively even, Mages, Shammy, Druid, Wizzie, Enchanter all can solo well especially the druid. Each is desired in groups for different reasons and each has its different soloing style.

EQ is ridiculously unbalanced in favor of casters so if you choose not to play a necro or beast I would research one of the above listed classes and pick whichever seems the most fun for you.

The rest of the classes are melee classes. As a rule they really cant solo effeciently in the vast majority of scenarios.

GOOD LUCK!

which class levels up the fastest? Please give me a solo answer and a non solo answer
#5 Oct 30 2005 at 8:21 PM Rating: Decent
If i recall they removed the class xp bonus and penalties. SO every class will level equally.

Certain reces (Iksar, Ogre and troll) have substantil xp penalties. 15% for the ogre and 20% for the other 2. If you play one of these races you will be abit slower then other.

Most people would say that a necro , bard and druid level the fastest. All three solo well. I did not include bard on my previos post because I have never played one.

No non-solo classes really level faster then any others. Obviously clerics are widly needed in groups but all things being equal all will level the same.

One thing to keep in mind though is tanks will level a little slower then every other class. A tank only can get groups in areas they are capable of tanking. DPS and healer classes can go to whatever offers them the best xp. So while your level 50 tank is grouped with a bunch of people in the lower 40's the level 50 dps and gealer classes will be in better xp/ tougher zones.

I'll give a thank you to any wise admin who decides to lock this thread A.S.A.P.

We have been over this more times than any of us can count and their is no right or wrong answer. Their are far to many variables to give a #1 spot to any class. Nohk has listed some of the best classes at soloing. (I say some as I am sure someone will say a class has been left out)

The rest is up to you to try these classes and decide which fits your playstyle.

A hobbit necro if they made one =P

Hobbit gets 5% exp bonus so all things being equal will generally level faster but all things are equal like never, there are things like skill, regen, frontal stun, gear and just not wanting to have hairy feet to take in mind.

Not to mention that hobbits cant be necros, shaman, wizards, mages, beastlords, or monks all classes I have seen played solo to high levels effectively.

They can be druids and rangers the other classes I have seen soloed to high levels effectively but really the game isnt about math its about fun so do what you enjoy.

Oh lordy, here we go again. ALL classes can solo, some are just agonizingly slow at it. The classic solo character is the Necro. If I was concerned about helping out in parties I'd pick a Shaman or Bard, both of which solo quite well, and usually have no problem finding a group. Neither one can "out solo" a Necro if you just consider exp grind, but that gets old pretty fast, imo.

A well played Bard is an amazing asset to any group, and a damn fine soloer. "A well played Bard" is a mindset and a commitment to it.

The "fastest" way to 70 is to buy it. Why so concerned with "fast"?

A twinked Necromancer could solo to 70 in less then two months of 4ish hours a day:

http://www.necrotalk.com/index.php?showtopic=797
http://www.necrotalk.com/index.php?showtopic=368&st=930 "ding 70 after only 42 days played"

Any Class could be PLed there by dedicated friends in less than that. Really, that's would be the "fastest" way.. find friends skilled in PLing.

Bard can solo level up the fastest starting from level 30 or so.

Bard is also very desirable in groups.

but bard is maybe the hardest class to master.

I'm going to to throw in my vote for necro. I've soloed maybe 75-80% of my 59 necro.

Tally a vote for the shaman. Not only do you possess great ability to solo throughout the game, but once you get into the 20's and 30's, you get pets, decent slows, and some very good DoTs. Not only are they great soloers, but they are invaluable to groups as well for their buffs and slowing.

The game is about groups really. It is best to pick a class that can solo and has a distinct group purpose too. Bards, beastlords, wizards, and shaman are best choices in the long run.

If u want to just solo and never group pick and necro or druid. Funny that I say this despite playing a druid.

Sad thing about your last paragraph is that a well played necro is an extremely valuable asset to any group. On the other hand, a poorly played necro is a waste of pixels.

Any class adds DPS to a group no matter if it can solo or not. Just some classes have more utility in them. Druids and shammy's make good oh *&^& healers incase something goes wrong. Necros are good at giving clerics mana LOL since they are walking mana factories. In the group setting it doesn't really matter what classes you have as long as everyone stays alive. I had my monk in a complete caster group and never got hit once with a shammy as healer and other times i've been in groups with all tank types either way the main goal of a group is to stay alive with minimal effort and down time.

prior to the nerf stik hitting bards, bards owned the levelage(for the ppl sayin wtf no way i'll put it like this,at around the 30s mid 40s i was doing red con 20+cougs in ic in less than 5 mins ae kiting ,and that wasnt even something worth mentioning in eqdiva bak then.no outside buffs just my sweet banjo and timbales playing)since its been awhile since the nerf i say necros from what i've seen.as for adding to a grp in a major way AND soloing in a major way i say shammys, again from what i've seen.sure twitching the healers always nice but if u got a slowe/haste/regen/healer backup well dont think u'll need the twitching unless ur doin raids wich is nice but not life or death if u dont have some1 feeding mana.*shrugs*

The Uni Boomber is a good soloer. Also Frank Sinatra did it his way oh yeah John Wayne was pretty capable by him self. and the obvious choice today would be Terrel Owens a classic soloer.

I am starting to solo my enchanter more and more...and everyone knows, enchanters are great at parties, why the dog-balloons alone are worth it...

For the O.P.,

Instead of basing your choice from others opinions (*which will be different from yours I guarentee), why dont you invest the time and research this yourself?

You have 8 Char slots available.....try making a toon for each of the classes that interest you and see which one oyu like once you acheive a set goal...say 10, 15 or even 20th level.

As stated above this topic is Waaaayyyy beyond the Smiley: deadhorse label....we might needa new term like...dead, decomposed, as old as dirt...etc?

so to start you on your way I will with-hold my opinion as it would only hinder you on your search for enlightenment.

G/L wit that
