I've encountered a problem that has occured since today's patch. I last left the game in windowed mode. When I try to log back in, I can't get the keyboard to switch between caps and non-caps. This affects be at login, since my password is a mix of caps, lower-case, numbers and special characters.

At first, I though my account was cracked. Upon further investigation, I found by typing in the name field, once I go caps (either with caps lock or shift key) every letter is capital.

Has anyone else run in to this problem? I am currently doing a complete file scan, but not holding my breath...

yea I got this as well..
Luckily, my pw is my first initial and then my high school student ID(I miss those days) so its one cap letter and about 8 numbers..i thought mine was cracked as well, but I pressed shift once, typed my initial, pressed it again and hit the numbers and it worked

very annoying though

I am also experiencing the "stuck shift key" bug. Folks are complaining about it on the SOE forums, so I guess a fix will be soon.

I had this same problem last night BEFORE the patch. I had to log out and back in to fix the issue.

Im having a different problem - when NOT in windowed mode, my mouse fails to work, and the cursor just hangs out in the upper left hand portion of my screen.

When IN windowed mode, mouse works normally.

Suggestions???

Same thing with my mouse. People in-game say there is no current fix.

I'm looking into it now.

Mouse problems have been patched:

The steps below will solve the problem of having a stuck mouse in the upper left hand corner of your screen while running in full screen mode on Windows XP. If you are experiencing this problem with any other OS, please try these steps as well.

First download the Windows Application Compatibility Toolkit from this location. It's about 7Megs. Once it is downloaded, install the application.

http://download.microsoft.com/download/.NetStandardServer/Install/2.6/NT5XP/EN-US/act26.exe

You can then launch the application by going to your start menu, Program Files, Windows Compatibility Toolkit, then click on the Compatibility Administration Tool.

Under the System Database section, click on Applications.
In the right list view scroll down to the EverQuest entry.

Double click the EverQuest entry
Now right-click the EQGame.exe entry in bold that shows up in the right hand view and choose Disable Entry.

You will now be able to use your mouse while in full screen mode on Windows XP. This will also allow you to alt-tab from EverQuest.

Thank you.

Thoryndar, your link worked like a charm to fix the problem I was having, too. After the patch I got a mouse frozen in the upper left corner of the screen after clicking "Play" in the patcher dialog box - had to use the Task manager to get out of it.

Loading the Application Compatibilty Toolkit solved the problem.

Much thanks.

Wasn't exactly my link, as it was posted through the eqnews download, but I was having a serious problem with it last night, and I rebooted my computer a few times, to try to repatch, and suddenly, it was there.

Didn't want all of you to be as frustrated as I was - it was apparantly happening to way more people than I initially thought it was.

That being said, although I was not on EQ the second the servers came back up, and while I am usually one of the first to begin /ranting when something "goes wrong," I was actually pretty impressed with the speed at which the fix was released - thought I would have to wait until today, at least, for the "fix patch for the patch."

Helms off - yay.

I had the same problem. Had to go to Sony EQ site and change password to fix it. Also my system automatically flips me from full screen to minimized. When I pull the program back up it is no longer in full screen mode. Happens whether I am doing something or just sitting. Got killed 4 times because it happened in game. Anyone having that problem? WIN XP Pro and NVidea GeForce 6800 GT with new driver. MJH

All of a sudden I started having the problem yesterday. (Had it a time or two last wed. but it stopped)
Tried the patch as suggested but neither I nor Elne could see Eq as one of the game options.
Any further suggestions or do I just need to look again?

I am bumping this post as I continue to have a problem. I have done the load of the Compatability Admin tool. It then patches to an update of 3.0
Neither of the applications show everquest in the right hand window.
Has something more been done? What step may I be missing.

I deleted the orginal tool, reloaded it and have tried looking at it in 2.6 and 3.0 versions.
