As many will tell you race doesn't really matter once your higher end. In fact my Froglok Necro has around 245ish INT at lvl 30 and the most expensive item he has is like 4k.

Some might argue Erudites are the best Wiz class because of their starting int. But yes, gear can easily make up for any class differences.

Kinda wish I'd made my Wiz a frog - they're fun too watch. Smiley: grin

Gear can eventually take care of stats, ie: strenght, intelligence, wisdom, etc. Things to consider would be natural abilities for a race, where you like to play, and if you like to solo or group. Imagine trying to solo a froggy (any class) in Gukta since the trolls have retaken the zone.

Token Answer: Play what you think is fun.

Statistical Answer: If anything, it's fairly easy to max out INT for a caster class via gear so you may want to worry more about other stats. Frogloks have pretty decent strength and stamina compared to the anemic Erudites, High Elves and gnomes. If we assume the four most important stats are INT (naturally), STA (hitpoints), DEX (some skills & involved in fizzle chances) and STR (carrying weight), frogloks show themselves to be a pretty solid race:

Starting INT STR STA DEX Total
===============================================
Froglok 85 70 90 100 345
Erudite 117 60 80 70 327
Dark Elf 109 60 75 75 319
High Elf 102 55 75 70 302
Gnome 108 60 80 85 333
Human 85 75 85 75 320

Each race gets +30 bonus points so, while frogloks shore up their INT and other races try to raise their STA, frogloks still come out ahead in raw stats. Again, INT is easy to raise up (my lvl 40 mage has something like 285 INT if you disregard the 255 cap), the other stats sometimes less so.

Why would you? Frogloks start in a refugee tent 'city' in Rathe Mts now complete with a new newbie hunting area for their armor and progressive quests.

only problem with starting as a Euridite is that if its your first toon it will be a bit afore you get over agi cap and will pay AC penalty at early levels unless you invest some of your points into AGI instead of sinking it all into intellegince like most casters will do. Also as a caster you start with low strength so get encumbered easy and without a decent investment in AGI a Euridite will get easily encumbered and then go under AGI cap of 75 and have AC penalty again.

If its your twink then who cares what race you choose as gear wise covering up AGI, INT, STR any of em is too easy to be bothered with.

As for frog its really the same at a certian point in game all wizards are gonna be the same ( well minus gear) and it will just be a what you wanna look like issue when your grown up.

AGI will not cause you to be encumbered. However as a caster getting your defense up is hard enough as it is. However lower AGI will make getting your defense up even slower. There is some cheap newbie gear you can get though to take care of the lack of AGI (Serpentine braciers are perfect to boast agi).

Alot of people say defense is useless as a caster. However I don't agree. I have seen lower level casters drop like a fly when they have no defense as where the ones who have some defense can last long enough for tank to get agression, cleric get heal off, etc.

He wasn't saying AGI will cause you to be encumbered but, if your AGI drops below 75, you take a large AC hit. Erudites start with a base AGI below 75 (70) so they almost have to spend points raising it. They're also weak so it doesn't take much to encumber them, then they lose AGI from over-encumbrance which drops them under 75... you get the idea.

I didn't include agility in my chart just because I had to draw the line somewhere and figured AGI was less important on average than the other skills so long as it's over 75. Frogloks still beat out everyone though: 100 base AGI vs the next highest (Dark elves with 90).

The answer to all these types of questions is always the same - "What character do you enjoy playing?" ;)
