I am hoping someone can help me. I can no longer patch Everquest. When it starts to download the file spelu2.tga, it errors out, giving me an I/O error. I've tried uninstalling EQ numerous times, but I can not get rid of the file spelu2.tga, it gives me a data error: cyclic reduncy check. i've tried numerous things to delete this file, and it won't go away. I haven't played EQ in a week, any help would be greatly appreciated, thanks....

does your operating system has some sort of data back up system that allows you to back up to a point prior to a problem. My new one does ... I dont know what it does really .. or what it is called (someone else fill us in on that) and I hope I will never have to use it.
When my last computer crashed . .i had to wipe the system clean .. including the operating system. I then re installed windows operating system, my internet boot disk, a few choice disks (quicken and the like) and because I didn thave the hard coppies of EQ I went out and purchased the Platnum edition and re installed that. EQ was still there ... my account was still there. Finally my system crashed beyond even that repair .. so I went out and custom built a new one.

Yeah, I think what you're talking about is called "System Restore". I tried that and it didn't work. I couldn't find anything before the problem that I had saved. I am starting to think that I'm going to have to reformat, although I really don't want to do that. Thanks for your help, though, and I still need help if anyone thinks they can. Thanks....

I'm guessing you have alread run virus and spyware scans. You be able to delete that file by booting computer up in safe mode (hit F8 after bios loads just as windows starts loading). If that doesn't work, try running dxdiag and msinfo32 from the run window to see what is going on with your computer. There is a good write-up on those proceedures on http://eqforums.station.sony.com/eq/board/message?board.id=tech&message.id=105026

There is also live online chat with one of eq's tech Monday thru Friday. They helped me with a download problem last week. Link to that is http://help.station.sony.com/cgi-bin/soe.cfg/php/enduser/live.php.
