Can anyone confirm this?

I recently heard about a bug/exploit where you could have someone sitting in the Bazaar or Guild Hall and get XP/AAs while the rest the group was actually out fighting.

A friend claimed his trader got 15 levels in a day by sitting in the bazaar while the rest of the group was doing the fighting.

Is there any truth to this? Is it a bug or exploit...or is it legal? I thought you had to atleast be in the same zone to get XP.

If it's true, it's definately a bug. I wouldn't exploit it, that's a good way to get your account banned.

like sony actually bans accounts for anything less than admitting duping in front of a gm, and spitting on smedleys face.

Indeed they do, and I'm living proof.

I doubt you willl see bans for this. If they do it will be in the thousands of accounts.

Trust them to not give up on that much revenue easily.

More than likely they will fix it some other way like making you need to zone in to the mission to get XP. At least that way you actually have to be there once every 30 minutes.

Unfortunately, powerlevelling isn't going away and this is jut the latest way to do it.

Well, the main reason I ask is that the friend did raise 15 levels in a day. He's been known to BS people...but I thought this sounded rather legit. In a former guild, there been those sitting in trader or GH and getting leveled / AAs, from what I understand from him.

Guess the guy is actually telling me the truth. I have no desire to do this because I like to get my XP/AAs the old fashoned way...by actually going out and earning them.

Well, lets see how long it takes SOE to nerf this.

Fixing a bug is not a nerf, it's fixing something to make it work correctly.

I had heard that before the first patch on the new expansion there was an exploit that allowed some guilds to rack up tons of xp and aa's by having part of the group away from the computer and still being in the group and getting credit for completion without zoning into the MM. What i heard though was that you had to be in the particular zone that the MM started in but they were getting free xp. Now they supposedly fixed that the second or third day the patch was out so i would say it might have been half true at one point but i doubt you could be in just any old zone

From my experiences you will not get exp unless you select a class from the list after the monster mission is first gotten, so you can't be completely afk.

Just a thought.

It is very true...I two box a lot and many times after the wife goes to bed I will log her toon on so I can have enough people to get MM's...not doing this for her toon's gain or to PL her but no matter where her character is she will still get xp for completing the mission....

I got to talking to a friend who is the leader of a guild on the Tribunal and he did confirm it as well. He said he had people sitting in his GH "soaking it in".

He did point out that the same thing kinda happens in LDoN and DoNs where if you are out of the instance zone and the group successfully completes the mission, you get the points / crystals. He really didn't see a difference. The main difference I saw was that if you are running back or waiting for a rez, you earned the "reward" because you were in the zone participating. If you are just sitting somewhere to get the reward...well, you really didn't earn it.

I also see the point about logging someone in so your group is big enough...especially late at night. Ugh, late night grouping can suck.

This GL also admited that he had an officer leave the guild over this because the person felt it was being "exploited". Some just felt the guy was being kinda pious.

Yes ppls can be in any zone and get exp from the MM missions as long as they are in the shared task. Yes there is a fix coming out...but not in the sense of ppls not getting exp while not in zone...that brings up too many other probs such as when ppls are involved and go LD after a successful mission...(example only).

The fix Ive read about is that they are adjusting the Missions themselves...specific example is pirate MM in BB. Currently this can be solo'd with a rogue...so 5 ppls can be either afk or in completely different zones solo'ing...whatever...and one person can earn the group 1 AA x 6 ppls = 6AA's every 45 mins...

Possible changes in the rumor mill are that they are adjusting the rogue race, lowering the chest spawns...and randomizing chest locations....quite a bit of hassle IMO as all they wouldve had to do is increase the amount of bars needed to say 55...as there are only 44 chests...and 3 rogues zerging mobs can only kill 5 mobs....hehe trust me ive tried to see how many mobs 3 rogues can kill.

Anyways..the situation gets worse...when you hear about guilds that are rotating 3 groups..starting missions 15 mins apart...and then 5 ppls join each task just before it finishes...effectively gets 5 ppls 3 AA's in 45 mins. Not bad exp for no risk/effort and just having to join a task...but completely not what MM's were intended for.

As for the bans...we've already seen sony pull the WC mission and the Werewolf mission...these were even worse in the sense that ppls were completing it in very short times and getting 2AA's per mission...and these ppls werent banned for "exploiting" a bug....all im saying is that sony will eventually fix the mission...im expecting in the 26th patch...and life will go on...

just my 2cps

As for the WC MM, that is the one getting used and abused on the Tribunal server. I popped into WC when I heard the Griffon MM was back up. 243 people were in the zone at one point.

I went on the MM with some friends and it was a super-simple one. The only "real" danger was if you got to close to the pack on Newbies and aggroed them. I would imagine that SOE will fix that one soon enough.

Sharkar, I don't know what server you are on, but what you described with the guilds rotating sounds like the Tribunal. Never been on any other server since starting EQ.

Also, there are some frustrating MMs, like the guard one in High Hold Keep...but I'm going to post that one (as a different thread) after I get some sleep. Ugh.

This has been 'fixed' so that only about 10 chests are in the zone. Now it is tough to win with a full group. Used to be able to get 100 if we really tried, don't think that is possible now.

they'll just nerf the XP on the MM's so that you only get 3% OF an AA that way no one can exploit them. They'll nerf it just like they nerfed LDoN's which i happen to still enjoy from time to time

I hate myself, I got lured into SOE's bait-and-switch again. I just got DoD about a week ago, and very soon MMs are going to be nerfed to where nobody does them anymore, I can feel it. They do the same thing just about every expansion and I never learn. A couple days after I bought LDoN they nerfed the cash drops - at first even low-level groups would get a couple hundred plat from the split, then right after I bought it the cash drops got cut to where you would get like 25pp.
