I know from experience that the old Newbie Armor Quests are simple. There is one for each class within each race.(excluding Iksar) You talk to your class guildmaster or other figure within your guild to get started.PoK doesnt really work for me (always crashes) so i havent had a chance to try out the other Newbie Armor Quests from POK. Do they work the same way? With a specific person to talk to for each quest or do you talk to one main person and he sends you off on a quest depending on your class/race? or is it just class? or just race? I have been wondering about this for a while.

I have done about 10 of the new newbie armors quests and the time it takes vs the reward is still way not worth it, if you are a new player looking to get aquainted with EQ check out your class boards or sites like this one, you will learn/earn way more in time equally spent.

Also saddens the hell out of me to see "newbie cities" really be "newbie ghostowns" they start in pok and have little or no reason to ever stumble accross or feel part of their place of orgin as they really all are now citizens of pok.

I tend to disagree, as far as the worthynes of the PoK armor quest, for one thing there are pieces of equipment which are just not available through your old newbie armor quest. Also they have the advantage of forcing new players to experience zones which were not and definitely are not oftenly used, so for mere game experience it is worth it.

However I have to denounce the fact that not all Race/deity combinations work with the PoK armor quest, namely my paladin of Karana was recieving armor for Bringer of lights meaning that for all my eforts I was recieving non tradeable armor that I couldnt wear.

Finaly I agree on the sadness of seeing newbie town so empty, most player being in such a rush to get to the higher levels and not taking the time to apreciate the subtleties and flavour of home town low level quests. But to each is own you cant dwell on what was and have to deal with what is and walk your own path.

Your right on some of the quests others are just ewww, the one that starts in FoB and requires you to kill bandits in Warsilk is not level appropriate to beat it and be new you will need to be much higher then the level I think it is 11 it is assigned at, I made a baby frog necro to fart around and didnt beat this til level 15 with a bored druid who buffed me to the gills with 24 pt thorns regen diamond I think was the skin may have been nature but put those on me and pet.

The one that runs you thru NRO and requires you to kill things isnt bad but took me 6-7 hours thru sheer determination to get a spider venom sack to drop and finally got it off a desert tarantuala ( thank god the quest counted) not a dune tarantula, they spawn really rare in NRO like never more then 2 up and sack appears to be even rarer then I remembered it.

The one that runs you thru butcher was worth it though harder to do with my twinked pally then my gimp newbie necro so ymmv but I would still say farm spider/spiderling silk sell it in bazaar run tutorial/kurns/paludal etc otherwise and in half the time you will be higher level and have better gear.

As to making people at least look at some of those zones you have me there, I would say I learned quite a bit thru my exaspiration about zones I thought I knew like Rathe Mountains and most people wont ever experience in zones like Butcher/Nro etc at all.

Sony seems to push these newer zones fairly well though with better risk vs reward and I cant say except for an old schooler like me who enjoyed some of the trips down memory lane that these quests will do much except exasperate people after the ease of the tutorial.

Just following up cause my first reply was kinda vauge.

The ones you get from the vahshir are really nice. For starters the items are droppable, and they are not available anywhere else. I can't really comment on the other newbie armor quests, but I have been told it is no better then the easy stuff you can do in your hometown.

Look on the brighter side though, at least none of it is a expensive or painful to obtain as the old mid-level melee/plate quests. I remember crying myself to sleep back in the old days wanting armor of ro.

The biggest thing that I have found is when you finish the Gloomingdeep, [aka Tutorial], you are usually Lvl 10. If you set out on the Quests from V'Lynn or Castlen right off, then you may find yourself behind the 8 ball. I have gone on quests that seemed simple enough and then out of the blue, a red NPO kills me in a single swipe.

It is not too difficult to break your bones in the Field of bones and Level up to high 12 low 13 and then begin the quests from V'Lynn, you get better results and still get Armor you can use. Just avoid the Iksars in the field of Bones, or you loose faction that could hurt you down the road.

To give you a time reference, I began playing about a month ago. One more word on this. You will get an email when you Level. DON'T Try them!. The NPO's you need to kill are usuall Red or Yellow and can result in a long corpse run. The emails are not Level comprable, maybe 2 or 3 off.

Happy hunting...

Did I understand correctly that there are armor quests given in POK for low level items (BP, arms, legs, boots, etc)?

The reason I ask is that I'm starting over as a DE cleric on FV and the newbie quests given by my guildhall are broken since DOD. I'm trying to find alternatives to those original quests.
