#1 May 31 2004 at 1:36 AM Rating: Decent
heya all -- I just reinstalled EQ on my comp and I can get thru the patcher but when I hit play a window pops up and says that I am missing dynamic link library d3d9.dll in <a bunch of locations are here>. anyone know what to do?

<EDIT>and I've already tried uninstalling and reinstalling.

<EDIT>ok this may or may not be helpful but this is exactly what that window says -- the dynamic link library d3d9.dll could not be found in the specified path C:\Program Files\Sony\Everquest;.;C:\WINNT\System32;C:\WINNT\system;C:\WINNT;C:\Program Files\Sony\Everquest;C:\WINNT\system32;C:\WINNT;C:\WINNT\System32\Wbem.

d3d9.dll is tied up with directx. I would suggest re-installing directx9. If this doesn't fix the problem try going to:

http://www.dll-files.com/dllindex/dll-files.shtml?d3d9

and unzip the file into C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32

Really tho' reinstalling directx9 is your better bet

hope this helps....

www.microsoft.com will bring you to the Microsoft home page, from there go to the downloads page, and it should be no problem to find the lastest directx downloads.

Nah, best option, Mr. First-Post-Today, is NOT to download a "dll repair tool" from some questionable site. That's a great way to get a virus. Best option is, as stated above before the necropost, go to Microsoft.com and download Direct X straight from the producer, where you can be reasonably sure you're downloading something safe.

Absolutely correct Sippin. I had to dig up an old HD last night when EQ crashed and locked my system so bad I had to perform a manual shutdown by holding down the power button. Windows would not boot. On the old HD, I installed EQ and got the d3d9x_30.dll error. Went to M$ and got the 2010 redistributable (the latest) and all was well.
