magician help plzFollow

I currently have a lvl 38 mage, i played him quite a bit and actually had a lot of fun with him, but after a little while my higher lvl friends said it was hard to get groups at high end as a mage and I got kind of discouraged, so I started an enchanter, it started out really cool, mezzing/charming/hasting, usual enchanter thing.....But around lvl 30 I really started to see why enchanters were supposidly the hardest class in the game to play, my group members were the dumbest people alive.....

But anyway back on subject, is it really worth it to quit a fun class to play one that gets groups easily? I mean I see a ton of lvl 65 mages out there I mean can it really be that bad?

(btw no offence to anyone that plays an enchanter, very good in groups but I have very little patience when it comes to stupid melee's breaking my mezz's then getting upset with me because they die)

Well, from what I understand(and I've only played a mage to the mid 30's so this is mainly second hand information), mage is a tremendous soloing class. I think they suffer from the same problem that a necromancer has. Because necromancers are such a strong solo class, people kind of overlook them for groups, thinking either they wouldn't be interested in grouping, or wouldn't have much to offer a group because thier spells and abilities are more bent towards soloing. That couldn't be further from the truth as necromancers and magicians can be a HUGE boon to any group, but when fighting perceptions about a class there isn't much you can do:)

About the enchanter. If you want a REALLY fun challenge(and I say challenge because it isn't easy at all) try soloing with your enchanter. The experience once you get it down is extremely fast, and it will keep you on your toes:), I've found that my most exciting hunts have been soloing on my enchanter. Just be prepared to do some corpse runs.

I have a lvl 65 mage with 30AAs so far. I found the mage to be really fun to play. I don't have troubles finding groups; most people in my guild like having me in their group because of all the DPS I provide.

There are some issues with pet damage mitagation and output at higher levels, but nothing that makes mages undesireable. And SoE has promised to address those problems mages have relatively soon.

Mages are excellent soloists, but after lvl 60, it is harder to solo. www.magecompendium.com has some great tips on where to solo at what lvl.

If I listened to the whiners I would never have played any character up to level 65. I'd be missing out on a ton of fun.

I have a 52 mage. I love playing her; she's one of my "getaway" characters in fact. Mages are fun, plain and simple. That's why people keep playing them in spite of some valid problems with the class at the very high end game.

Bottom line, play what you like. Some of my favorite players are 65 mages, because they've learned to get the very most from their class and because they're a blast to be around.

Can't get groups? I've heard that complaint from every single class, including enchanters and clerics.

It comes down to the effort the player puts into finding a group. If you sit and wait passively for someone to invite you, you're going to have trouble finding groups.

I have a level 61 magician. We're not one of the "must have" group members in most situations, but I really have never had much trouble finding groups. If people are just sitting around shouting LFG, just start inviting people. It's just not difficult. You've also got the option to solo at least until your mid 50s, which isn't true for all classes.

If you find a magician fun, keep playing it! There aren't enough of us around and I really think the bad publicity magicians give their own class has a lot to do with that. Yes, there are some issues SOE needs to address with our class. Those issues are not so crippling as to make the class unplayable.

I've tried every class. None could hold my attention or was as much fun as my magician.
