Problem With SpellbookFollow

#1 Mar 12 2004 at 9:38 PM Rating: Decent
Last night I was fighting and my screen went black, came back up but my Spell Icons were gone (the ones in the handy thing on the side).

As of now, my spellbook can only be opened using the CTRL keys, the Spell icon on the Selector Bar lights up but will not respond.

So, I got the book opened and put the spells in my hot keys.

Is there any simple way of fixing the Spell icon on the selector again.

I mean keep it simple, you are reading a message from 'she who is lucky to get the computer turned on'

Thanks

I'm sure there's an alt command that will do it. I just don't remember what it is (alt-g?). Every window on your screen has some key command to toggle it on or off. That's probably what happened.

You can always hit alt-o to get the "options window". In there will be a keyboard shortcuts tab (don't remember what it's called, but it's obvious). In there, you'll find all the keyboard shortcuts that are available (a ton). Look for the spell gems window one and you can find out which key combo will make it reappear.

Yeah. Not the short and quick answer, since I don't remember the exact keys. But by just remembering alt-o you can find out all the other keyboard combos that you might not remember. It's a good thing...

Sounds like it could be a couple things.

Alt-S is the way to toggle the spell bar on and off. Try this first.

If that doesn't work, the only other thing I can think of is a UI issue (UI = User Interface, what you see on the screen other than the game itself). If you are using the default UI, then try typing /loadskin default. This will reset the UI and your spell window should be where it was the first time you logged in. Of course, this will reset any other windows you may have moved/created. This is used because sometimes (rarely) a window will be moved off screen.

If that doesn't work, then I'm not really sure of an answer :(

<edit>using /loadskin default 1 will keep all your windows in place, however this will do nothing if the window is indeed off your screen. The 1 after default means that it will use your settings for all the UI pieces, rather than the default settings (settings include location, size, filters, etc).

Thanks. I apparently pushed the spell slot list too far to the left when the screen went black and it was off screen. Figured out this morning.

It is okay to laugh if you want to, I did.
