removing spywareFollow

#1 Mar 07 2004 at 2:29 AM Rating: Decent
I seem to have picked up a new style of spyware. I've tried removing it, but it redirects me to an internet site that wants me to download an uninstaller. I'm to suspicious to trust that download.

N-case and divx pro are the two culprits so far.

Can anyone recommend any good spyware removal programs/sites?

I'd really appreciate it.

Also, What's the command to bring up your start-up window in XP?
I thought it was MSINFO32, that doesnt' bring up the correct window.

Thanks again.

Check out this site, its extermely informative and has some nifty downloads that will **safely** clean up your system.

http://www.spywareinfo.com/~merijn/downloads.html

Two of the best utilities at the site are "Hijackthis" and "CWShredder".
And best of all, it's also easy to understand for us average users!

Let us know if this fixes your problem.

Cheers..

go to downloads.com and get spybot and adaware. They are both free and the best at removing spyware. The reason I reccomend getting both is that each one will get files that the other might miss.

Just be careful with Spy Bot. Some things in your registry get identified as spyware that actually aren't.

If you delete something and it causes a valid program to qtop working, make sure you know what it was you quarantined so you can re-enable it.

Damn RightSmiley: rolleyes Spybot can attack a number of IE plug-ins and registry entries for legitimate database and search functions.

I used to use Adaware and Spy Bot but Adaware seems to do it for me.

Webroot Spysweeper is also pretty good as well. You can download a free copy of it (and other utilities) on http://www.tucows.com. The full version is around $30 with 2 year subscription to definition updates.
