I've had the game for a couple of weeks, I played the ps2 version for a long time, lot of differences though, so... I play two characters regularly both are lvl16, a gnome necro and a dwarf war. I've completed the GM armor quests for each of them, but other than that my items suck, the quest items especially for the necro, really aren't very good. I'm having trouble, especially with the necro, making money. Every coin I make goes toward my spells, I've not found one dropped item that was worth keeping, and everything at the bazaar is way way way expensive... So, if anyone has suggestions as to how to make some income or what mobs to kill or what items will sell at the bazaar, etc. I'd appreciate it.

Kill spiderlings and sell the silks in the bazaar, you can make lots of money like this. 100pp an hour easily. Warriors are among the worst money makers in the game, so I would use the necro to make money.

Your necro can make you some decent money later on in life too, if you're willing to do the work. My necro is 53 and with her geerlock automated quill, her research skill is at 199. I went for a 2 week stretch where I was comparing prices of spells in the bazaar to the price of the components needed to research them (mostly priest 51-60 spells). By checking merchants/magi near adventure camps regularly and combing the bazaar, I was able to make around 30k (after costs of components) in those two weeks. Obviously, that's pretty far down the line for you, so like Reinman said, the silks are probably your best bet at the moment. Also, as a necro, you have some choices that a lot of others don't... Look up the Sisters in Ocean of Tears and the druids and rangers in East Commonlands and West Commonlands. Since you have bad faction with them already, and probably will never have good faction with them, it doesn't hurt to kill them, and the exp/loot you can get for them is insane for their level. Especially the druids/rangers in WC. Look em all up on this site, I think you'll be pleasantly surprised.

Yep, depending on your server, spiderling silks can bring a lot of plat in for a newbie. 100pp is certainly the low end of what you can make (although it does depend on actually selling your silks to other players, which can take time but can be done afk while in bazaar mode).

A while back I rolled up a bst on Mith Marr for kicks (went on a pickup Kael raid at 20, no lie - have a nodrop cloak as a souvenir), and I wanted a haste item for him. So I spent a few hours farming spiderling silks, then a little while in the bazaar doing hi/low on silks and other items, then some more farming. Soon I had enough for an inexpensive SCHW (haste item) as well as some new weapons.

probably isnt the best suggestion but you could camp jasmine yur (24 bard) when you get a little higher and sell the seawind necklace she drops to the nearby merchants for 17 pp but you may be KoS to guards and the merchants so it may not be the best idea ever :p. other than that i recommend just lvling until 30 or so and killing halfling guards. Thats what i did at 25-35. Good exp and the spears sell for upwards of 10pp a pop (depending on charisma)

FINALLY I know why on FV I have picked up the Seawind necklace already twice at the same fishing-supply-vendor in East FP *lol*

Thanks for the advice guys. After I posted I started doing the spiderling silk thing, but 100pp an hour the low end? There were quite a few people selling silks and in order to undercut them with the lowest price I had to dip down to 5pp per silk and even at that people weren't really jumpin on em. I left my necro on in the bazaar for a few hours during prime time evening play with prices set at 5pp and no one had bought any - they eventually did and I've made about 200pp sellin, but thats been in the couple days since I've posted and I've pretty well left my pc on with my necro in the bazaar when I'm not playin. I'm not complaining cause thats like hitting the lotto given what I was workin with before and I'll definitely check out the other suggestions as well.

Timing is everything when it comes to selling items to tradeskillers. It is odd, you will have stacks of items that are normally wanted and not sell many at all and then one day you will sell everything you have in an hour at a premium.

One thing to keep in mind is with the new tradeskill window/system a lot of people tried it out and worked their craft and have probably had their fill for a while. I know I bake in spurts...I will spend a cpl of hours baking up a storm and then not bake again for a couple of weeks. Those who tried out their new tradeskill windows are probably not ready to do more for a while.

I heard from a friend who always keeps a bazaar mule up that right after the new system came out he could not keep stuff in stock and so he farmed heavy...now he has a glut an nobody is buying.

On Torvonnilous Spider Silks are averaging 15-20pp and Spiderling Silk 10-15pp. This is because people with deep pockets are buying them up and raising prices. If you need silk you pay their price or don't raise your skill or <deep sigh> farm silk yourself.

I'm a little fuzzy on the whole tradeskill thing... You say you bake in spurts... So is there money to be made in tradeskills? Does it not payoff until you've trained the skill to nearly 200? Are there items other than silks that tradeskillers purchase regularly? And also, Kurns Tower and Crushbone are getting to the point where exp isn't all that great - any suggestions as to good spots to head to next?

Actually there is a way to make money in tradeskills. Look up items to make for the Solistice Earring. Also making Prismatic Dye for armor is a sure bet. But all your skills need to be minimum 100 (me thinks) to make anything viable for selling in bazaar. On the bright side... fletching is a cheap tradeskill and people do need arrows - and most tradeskills are cheap (in general) to get over 100.

But sadly when you start the game as a completely new toon and need to buy armor and spells its rough going until about lvl 25 when you can start to farm better for fine steel or some gems. Stick with it tho - we all had to do it when we started. Smiley: smile

I believe that they are talking about the typical grind of skilling up on a trade skill. It gets tedious, boring, and well just hurts the hand. So just like some players will Grind exp for a while, then later do quests to break the monotony.

Tradeskills are not typicaly profitable untill the high end, and then it can be alot of work.

Oh ya, nuther possible plat solution for you is kill wisps. and keep all the greater light stones. You can turn these in to 2 particular gypsies (one is in SRO, the other in NK) who in turn will give you a book that sells to vendors for approx 12 PP each. Oh, and these books can be great containers because they are lightweight. (my monk loved em till he got his weight reduction bags).

good luck.

Thanks again for the help. Another question though, if I start making money with my necro is there a way to give money directly to my warrior? I tried grabbing a stack of coins and putting it in the shared slot, but it didn't work.

You can trade plat right beside the shared slot.
