I now use EQ Windows every time I log on. The CPU usage is better, it's easier to tab out of, and I have run three accounts on one PC before with little performance penalty.

I regularly switch between two accounts on the same PC, no problems at all.

I use it, no problems.

Run the primary window 1024x768 with medium textures and the clip plane around 75%, the second window with no sound and all the extras turned down, like 20% clip plane. Guess the best test is the Bazaar, can have both in there and it's passable. Not a slideshow but probably not more than 15 fps

System is an Athlon XP 3000 Barton on an NForce2 MB, 1 gig dual channel RAM, ATI 9600Pro video card, connect with a cable modem (Something like 2M Up/256K Down, forget)

I mapped Ctrl+Z to swap windows and Ctrl+X to free the mouse from the window if I need to surf for a map or something.

you will notice a HUGE differance in 2boxing with 1G vs 512M ram as you already have a beefy vid card.

the #1 weak point in 2boxing is the vid card.

i have tried with 32m card and never got it to work without 3+min zone times and lag so bad i had to turn everything off and clipping plane down on both accounts.

with 64M cards it was much better. still had to turn everything off on 1 account and CP = 0 on that account, btu other account was able to turn a few things on and CP = 100%.

with 128M card i can have graphics and partical effects on 1 account and CP = 100% on both accounts with almost zero lag unless its right after log in.

do use memturbo or some other program to clean up your ram EQ has a HUGE memory leak in it even though SoE refuses to admit this.

EQ should only use roughly 300-400M per instance, and your OS will use roughly 100M.

so at highest use you are at 900M ram usage. well guess what out of 1G of ram on my very clean running system, i am often down to 2-4M of ram free after loggin in my 2nd account, and will stay low for about 5-10min until memturbo cleans up my ram. then i can run around 150-250M free with no issues unless both toons are in bazarr or PoK at same time with 100+ ppl in zone.

so keep that in mind, and enjoy EQW. i use it for normal play even if im only playing 1 account.

[edit to add system specs of main gaming PC]

P4 s.4G 800Mhz FSB
Asus p4p800 delux MB
1G pc3200 ram
80G SATA Seagate HD (yes the speed of your HD makes a differance in zone times)
ATI 9500 128M vid (non-pro)

that system is the performance i talk about above.

little less performance from this system:

AMD 2000+ 1.8G
1G pc2100 ram
MCI MB (not a gaming system, more of a workstation)
Nvidia GFx 5200 128M
slower HD 5400, and 7200 ATA (IIRC EQ is on the 7200RPM drive)

i can see a HUGE differance between the 2, but it is more to do with the much slower ram and weaker MB then anything else. the FSB helps a lot with the P4 system vs my AMD system.

i have put my P4 against AMD system in the same speed range and not seen a monster differance. im a bit ahead, but only slighlty. yet put my system again any of the AMD 64bit systems and i look like a snail.
