This came over guidchat the other day.

Someone was telling us that the warrior in their group very nearly died because they continued attacking through enrage. Someone in the group commented that they must have forgotten to turn off attack and the warrior would have none of it. He maintained it was his job to keep aggro and he would "plough thru" enrage and it was up to the healer to keep him up.

This struck me as a very odd attitude. I've always been taught to turn of attack and just use taunt or spells to retain aggro during enrage.

As I understand it Enrage is a situation where the mob has 100% riposte on frontal attacks. If I'm right then continuing to attack does little or no damage (except procs I guess).

Is there a case for "ploughing through"?

Nope there is no case for ploughing through, you are right, none of your hits get through. Aggro should be firmly stuck by the time a mob enrages.

this is a very silly attitude.

As Patrician said by the time a mob rages it should be pretty much glued to the tank. If your behind it keep whackin away though.

Any warrior that ploughs enrage would be thrown out of most guilds if they repeated it.

That is the most absurd thing I have ever heard. On enrage, you stop attack, that simple. Well ... exceptions being easy ldon mobs thay hit for 50 or less a time Smiley: laugh

Do one's procs land (e.g. deal damage or take effect) when riposted?

A warrior that continues to attack through enrage has a death wish, and doesn't understand aggro either.

On enrage, yes, a mob ripostes 100% of frontal attacks, so especially if the warrior is using a 2 one handed weapons, eating enrage will whittle his health down so fast most healers can't keep up, without doing any damage to the mob. I'm not even sure procs would hit at this point, because you're not hitting the mob with the weapob.

I could be wrong, but I have NEVER seen a mob change targets on enrage. Even if it is possible to change aggro while the mob is enraged, there are many tricks to keeping aggro that don't involve attack: The provoke line of disciplines, taunt, disarm, and beg are all good ways of holding aggro. And of course, if the mob DOES change it's target, then the tank should start attacking again, regardless of whether he's eating rage or not.

I would think procs get though because it's a spell(non-melee damage). I don't think hoping the proc to get through though is a good enough reason to keep attacking.
