Am seriously thinking of starting EQ and am very late in trying it.

Questions.

Are there still a lot of new players coming online? I don't want to be out there at Level 1 and everyone else Level 65.

Also, can whatever I create (character, equipment, experience, etc) be carried over to EQ II coming out in June or do you start all over again?

Thanks!

There are a lot of new players, of course the ratio of new:old has shifted considerably over five years' time. You might want to start on Morden Rasp, the newest server.

SoE has said there will be no transfer of characters to EQ2. They want to re-engineer that newbie rush, and having a lot of well-equipped players dropped in the middle of that would be, well, counterproductive.

I started playing EQ about 2 weeks ago and I love it. There is so much to do and as the previous post states starting on the Morden Rasp server (which opened the day I got my game) means that not many people are massively higher than me although because (for a fee) you can transfer items from one server to another you do occasionally see someone level 65 flying in.

However the people who are level 65 hunt in different places to where you will be and won't get in your way ;)

I highly recommend it - I only bought it as a time filler for EQ2 in honesty but now I never look at the EQ2 site anymore.

I just started on stromm a week or two ago (cannot remember which now, the time has just gone) and I was fine. Lots of people to group with and lots of fun to be had.

EQ2 is a fully seperate game and just because you like EQ doesn't mean you will play EQ2. Also, Don't hold your breath for June, release dates change, just enjoy whats out in the mean time.

Thanks! I think I will go buy the game and it will have the expansion packs already in it.

Will try and get on that engine. Have only gone online once and that was URU though I play a ton of RPG (now playing Morrowind for second time).

June is a long way off so why not enjoy what there is to offer now and if EQ2 is released in June then I will decide whether to switch or stay put in EQ.

I should have done this a very long time ago but just was avoiding playing online.

I started EQ in January, but I still feel like a newbie as my playing time has been tight lately. I have met lots of other folks who are also new to the game.

This game is so deep I discover something new every time I play. If your on Stromm, look for me. I'm a ranger named Arthane.
