How is experience exactly calucated?Follow

Greetings folks, there is a major debate brewing in my small guild on how this is done. I decided to come to this board to hopefully get a straight/legit no BS answer.

Here is what I know/or believe to be true:

1.There is a base for outdoor 75% dungeon 80% and zone modifiers to change that.

2. There is negitive/positive bonus based on RACE: Ogres -15%, Halflings +5% etc. we know those.

3. There are + class mods for warriors/rogues. USED to be -mods for hybrids. Are they still there for solo purposes? -15% say for Paladins in solo mode, 0% in group mode.

4. There is a cutoff point on levels for grouping L30 cannot group with a L10 for exp. purposes. What is the formula 2/3 of highest something or another. Help please if you can!

5. There is a believe that there is a penality for grouping if your more than 3 levels below the highest in the group. Is that true/false? Is there not a SET experience for a mob?

6. Could someone point me to a link that is up to date, I have seen that geo-cities link on how experience is calculated. However that seems to have come out around Luclin, and is somewhat out of date. Or if someone can do a example and show how it is done?

7. Pets do they or do they not take exp? When if so?

8. What is the formula for group experience? A link would be fine, if available.

Thank you for any, and all help on this issue, it has me modestly confused, and several others totally confused. I would like to end the debate already. HELP!

As for the #1, the zone modifier...the base Zone Experience Modifier (ZEM) is 75, I believe. Perhaps this is 75% of something, but since it is the base value, many ZEM charts list the percentage above and beyond that. For example, Paludal Caverns is something like 85% above the base, so a ZEM of around 140 or so.

#4 isn't the same for all levels, I believe...if you assume that the rule is that if a mob is green to the highest level member, then no one gets exp, then you won't be too far off at lower levels. At higher levels there might be exceptions to this, but I don't know for sure.

#6 here is a copy of data from Usenet, I bear no responsibility for its accuracy:

The basic formulas for xp go as follows -

Where -
ZEM = Zone Experience Modifier
ML = Mob Level
GB = Group Bonus (1)
HCB = High Con Bonus (2)
N = number of players in group
S = sum of levels in group
PL = player level
B = Base mob xp (3)
XP = Xp awarded to player (4)

(1) For (N=1, GB=1.0; N=2, GB=1.2, N=3, GB=1.4;
(N=4, GB=1.6; N=5, GB=1.8; N=6, GB=2.16)

(2) HCB = 1 if ML < 55 or PL < 50 or PL-ML > 5
else
HCB = 1.95 + ((ML - (PL-5)) * .13)

(3) B = ML*ML*ZEM*GB

(4) XP = B * (PL + 5) / (S + (N*5)) * HCB

#7 as a Beastlord, I believe that I remember reading that their warders can do all the damage to a mob and the player will get all the exp. This didn't used to be the case, I believe, so I don't know if it was also changed for Mages, Necros, etc.

That's all I got!

Game on,

the formula for finding lvl cap amongst grp members is this....
say your lvl 19....

19 divided by 2 = 9.5
9.5 plus 19 plus 1 =28.5
lvl 29 would be the highest you can grp with
any time in mathematics when you get a decimal where one is not required you round it up or down...if the decimal is .5 or above you round up....the factor -3/+3 only effects the first 9 lvls
