Casino and your PPFollow

Ok well I am not one for flaming etc but does Sony really think we are that stupid not to figure out just what the Casino was put in the game for ? It is ...it was.. it will be for the sole reason to get rid of the excess PP in game.

I mean the first time it was only around for what .. 2 days or less. This time the same thing.

This BS about casino affecting server stabilty LOL what a load of crap.

Ok so we have GoD and it has some problems ..well fix them and move on just like any other new addon but dont insult our int by blaming the casino and then remove it yet again once it has removed a said amount of PP.

I like the idea of a casino but this one is a down right PP dump ...I mean all you get for thousands of PP is a bunch of crapy food with stats and some other misc stuff not worth the amount of PP you have to " Dump " to recive it.

Ya a few get a gold ticket but I am sure Sony could have designed it to give you some better items then what I got atleast anyway for 20 kpp on the last casino dump. The first time I dumped 18 kpp and got the same crap.

Of course it's a plat sink. I don't think anyone has ever pretended otherwise. It's the same reason as they introduced horses -- to remove platinum from the economy. However, where you probably only really buy a horse once, the casino you can drop plat in forever. At the worst, someone gets a valuable gold ticket item and sells it. So what? Sure, maybe 100k changes hands as you sell your Holgresh Elder beads but at the same time, maybe another 100k is permanently gone as you tried to get those beads.

Saying that it's a lie that they dropped the casino due to server issues makes little sense. If the goal of SOE is to see plat drained from the economy and if the casino was doing a good job of it, why take down the casino under false pretenses? It's not as if the amount of platinum in the economy will dwindle to zero if the casino stays up, most people will spend as much as they can afford and that's that.

Hehe, with the 'Casino coming and going tendency' they would have done a better job making them a 'traveling casino'. :P

I saw someone in the bizarre auctioning their own casino.

You give them 1K plat.
You random 1-1000
If you get over 630, they give you 2K.
If you get over 930, they give you 3K.

This is at least honest, if a touch obvious.

63% = they make 1K
30% = they lose 1K
7% = they lose 2K

Net rakeoff = 19% of all gambling moneys.

Nice work if you're prepared to take the time.

Only thing im wondering is:
If SOE doesnt approve of people buying plat with real cash, why put in stuff like the casino and tribute system? If the tribute system is eating all these items, wont the remainding ones grow in price? And for the thousands of plat you have to dump into the casino for that uber +5int sandwich...wouldnt this make the plat buyers go and buy more? Just doesnt make much sense if you ask me.

Because it's the only real way to fight mudflation. Low to mid range, and even some higher range loot is almost all junk these days. When you can buy an AC:47 Crypt Robber's Chestplate for under 3k, for example, you've pretty much just made nearly every chain class tunic with less AC nearly valueless. Even with recommended levels, it's a better chain BP than anything you'd normally have at level 25 or whatever. Likewise with Weighty Polearms, Mace of the Fallen Crusader, Architect Scepters, Architect Breastplates, etc etc. There's a slew of stuff from PoP+ that makes most loot from Luclin and prior not even worth trying to sell.

Since items don't decay, the only way to get rid of them is to encourage players to permanently destroy them. Since plat doesn't decay, the only way to remove it permanently from the economy is encourage players to spend it at NPC vendors, be it on spells, peridots, casino tokens or whatever. The other option is to continue to have lvl 20 twinks in lvl 60 gear making the low end game trivial and worthless.

SOE isn't trying to make you buy platinum, they're trying to make it so when a lvl 30 finds an AC:25 BP or a sword with a 2.1 ratio, they don't say "Vendor trash" because it'll only sell for 100pp in the Bazaar, if that.

Um u might think im dumb but casino isnt working nor will it ever.Cause people will countinu to buy pp or use bugs that soe makes for the people who sell pp to get more for them to sell. I hope soe keeps the price to what they are,let the people get up around the high prices. To make them avg prices now. Well wrost that soe could do is take it up that natch and do the worst thing and wipe every thing and make every one nakey

couldnt imagin (probly spelled wrong)every one runing around pok seeing every one nude

People are buying platinum anyway. Casino or no casino isn't going to change that.

Seriously, if you're buying platinum for real money to spend at a boring-*** virtual "casino" ("Sorry, that's not a good hand of King's Court.."), you have bigger issues than SOE is equipped to deal with.

Thats funny, I've logged on several times since the patch and I don't ever remember being forced to use the casino. If you don't like it then don't use it. It's pretty simple really.

If you want uber gear, buy it in the bazaar, or go earn it as drops. Gambling your way to better gear sounds pretty silly to me.

Personally i LOVE the casino because I guess that everyone is tempted to play for curiosity for some k and then returns to business as usuall.....

....EXCEPT for account bought or bought-plat fed players who don't know how to get some stuff the "usual" way and are therefore tempted to gamble more often...

just a guess but afaiac let the casino open its doors for 24 h a day!! :D
